Dr. Tuba Esfandyari, MD

Had an appointment with Dr Esfandyari and she did not even look at my records that had me referred to the specialty clinic for surgery. Instead, she stated she did not have my records, and required additional tests and labs. Thus prolonging my treatment. After the labs and 2 follow up tests/ procedures were completed- after 4 months waiting. She had assigned me to her nurse for a follow up- who was on maternity leave. Meanwhile- all the labs and tests had nothing to do with why i was referred. And i found out they were all for other reasons. When i had my follow up 4 months later- wanting to schedule my surgery - i was met with a nurse unableto assist - and NO Notes from Dr. ESFANDYARI! What a waste if time! Further more- as the nurse tried to approach her for my surgery for me.. she said it was unnecessary..# incompetence

Shokuh A Sometimes we can’t find what causes our heath issues and that can be scary. For 6 months, I had lower back and abdominal pain. My journey started with my family Dr., who is one of the most experienced doctors out there. Then, I saw a gynecologist followed by a urologist who are both great specialists. I went through all kinds of tests and the pain got so bad that I ended up in the emergency room. After they managed my pain, I contacted Dr. Tuba Esfandyari, GI Specialist, at KU Med and she got me in very quickly. My visit was unbelievable. She spent 45 minutes to get to know me, and to document my heath history. Her attention to detail was amazing and her kind voice was very calming. In my opinion, a good bedside manner is the first step for a patient to trust their Dr. Even though she explained to me what was causing my pain, she still wanted to do a colonoscopy to make sure. I noticed on the day of my colonoscopy she was running more exams before starting my procedure.… The colonoscopy proved her diagnoses was right on the money. I didn’t need to take any medication and she taught me some physical therapy movements to do on my own. I am pain free now. Thank you so much Dr. Esfandyari

She kept telling me what my problem was, no matter how much I explained what was actually going on. She's contradicted herself from prior appointments. I felt bullied, and left in tears. I've had cancer and I'm done with unnecessary procedures.

Don't waste your time. I found her to be lacking in compassion and sympathy and she was very arrogant. At our first meeting she told me she did not want her judgment questioned. I went to her with pains and problems and she flat told me that she would not give me anything until I got a series of tests that ended up taking weeks to complete. One of the tests I had already completed at another facility but she decided that I had to redo it because it was not done at her facility. She basically charged me and my insurance company for this unnecessarily. Her office nurse informed me that any procedure they ordered that required a prior authorization would be my responsibility if I had it done at an outside facility even though that is not the policy of my insurance company. The PA has to come from the ordering physician no matter what. One of the tests she knew would be anxiety provoking for me but she refused to help me with getting through it properly with a low dose of anxiolytic even… though I had been informed by outside sources that this would not affect the test. Then I called the office for my results of my tests and she refused to tell me that they were normal while we were on the phone. Having a medical background I already knew they were normal. The only abnormal one was the one that I had to repeat and I knew that it would be because it was abnormal three months prior at an outside facility. So I went back and on my second visit she “invited” the nurse manager to sit in on my appointment. I did not know until I got there that this was her plan nor did she seek my consent for it. I felt ambushed. I would get tired of waiting several days after calling the office for an answer to my questions or concerns and so was reprimanded like a child for calling back again. Her and her office staff accused me of being disruptive. I would not recommend her to my dog.

I feel blessed to have her right now.I have been miss understood on my medical and she got it figured out fast.I have beeb able to eat for 2 days now .I trust her.I hope this cntinues. She is really putting effort out to help me

Quite terrible.

I am knew with her.I do feel she is slow with getting back to discuss test.I do like her and I feel she is smart.But we need to come to an understanding of all the pain I live with and some fears that I HAVE. Her nurse is wonderful and very kind.I do wish a little quicker with test results and what options there are and what we can do for better comfort.

Seeing Dr. Esfandyari was the worst experience with a doctor that I've ever had. She did not listen to me at all. She would tell me things about my disease (a rare disease in which she knew nothing about at our first appt) that were completely wrong. However, when I told her it was incorrect she would not believe me and would argue her point. I told her that my doctor who specializes in my disease said differently but she still continued to disagree based on the little research she had done. She is the most arrogant physician I've ever met. Finally, she said that she could not treat me because I am on pain medication for the pain my disease causes. I have never walked out on a doctor (and I have seen a LOT of doctors due to my illness) and I walked out on her. She was VERY rude and arrogant. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy.
