Dr. Tyler May, MD

Meet Dr. Tyler MayDr. May grew up in the Metro Detroit, Michigan area and received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Wayne State University. While studying for is undergraduate degree, he received a variety of academic awards and enjoyed his time playing on the club lacrosse team. He continued his education at Temple University of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.After four years in Philadelphia, he matched at a large residency program, Detroit Medical Center. During his residency training he treated a variety of pathologies, with an emphasis on elective foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma, and diabetic limb salvage surgery. He also has attended many conferences and additional surgical training courses including in ankle arthroscopy.When Dr. May started thinking about job opportunities, he wanted to find a location where he could enjoy his hobbies of hiking and fly fishing year-round. After visiting Western North Carolina with his family, they instantly realized this was …location for them. He is thrilled to be a part of the Smoky Mountain Foot and Ankle team.
