Dr. Vanessa Marie Canas, MD

This was one of the most disrespectful medical experiences I've ever had. I came to Dr. Vanessa Canas for a consultation regarding possible endometriosis, which I explained I have not been formally diagnosed with as is common, since endometriosis typically requires surgery for confirmation. I shared my fertility journey, my symptoms, and my willingness to pursue further testing, including surgery if needed. Rather than listen or engage in a thoughtful conversation, Dr. Vanessa immediately interrupted me, insisted I did not have endometriosis, and was unable to clearly explain how she reached that conclusion, especially since she herself acknowledged that it cannot be definitively diagnosed without surgery. When I calmly tried to clarify my perspective and express my openness to surgery, she continued to interrupt and spoke down to me as though I couldn’t comprehend what she was saying. I repeated multiple times that I understood her, and yet she continued to speak to me in a rude,… condescending tone. Her communication was not only unprofessional but also borderline hostile. To make matters worse, when I addressed her as “Doctor Vanessa” since I didn’t know her last name, she cut me off to say that I must call her by her last name because she “studied for her degree” and that I needed to show her respect. I was shocked by the tone and lack of basic courtesy during the entire visit. Patients seeking answers about serious health concerns, especially those as complex and emotionally charged as fertility and endometriosis deserve compassion, attentiveness, and professionalism. Sadly, I received none of that in this visit. I left feeling dismissed, belittled, and completely unheard. This was one of the most upsetting medical experiences I’ve ever had. Avoid this doctor if you value being heard, respected, or treated with basic professionalism.
