Dr. Vaughn Perkins is a third generation Arizona native who grew up in the west valley and is a graduate of Glendale’s Deer Valley High School. Dr. Perkins has always had a love for both medical and public service. He started into the medical field as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT for the City of El Mirage Fire Department, where he completed his Firefighter I and II certificate. He later received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona. From there, he worked as a registered nurse in emergency rooms, intensive care units, and even flying overhead in helicopters and fixed-wings all over the states of Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas and New Mexico (often in all states within a 48 hour period!).
Dr. Perkins even helped deliver emergency medical care to firefighters battling forest fires in the southwestern U.S. during the summer fire seasons. With plans for a future family, Dr. Perkins shadowed a friend’s father, who is a valley …dentist, and his passion for dentistry began. He attended Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, graduating Magna cum Laude, all while working as an emergency room nurse at a major trauma center in Center City Philadelphia as well as meeting and marrying his wife. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Perkins attended a one-year residency (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Dental Clinic in San Antonio, Texas. By attending one of the top AEGD’s in the nation, he learned advanced treatments from specialists in their respective fields, all while delivering care to the men and women that keep this country free. Dr. Perkins absolutely loves dentistry and is totally committed to the highest quality for his patients. He has served as an associate in many private dental offices throughout the valley. Dr. Perkins has anxiously awaited the opportunity to utilize his knowledge and skills to treat his fellow neighbors in the West Valley. Dr. Perkins and his wife are also anxiously awaiting the birth of their first child (and future dentist) this summer.
