Dr. Venkatesh Babu G Segu, MD

Had a horrible experience with this office today; total waste of time and money. They do not answer phones, and do not return calls - should have been a sign this is not the place for me. Dr. Segu was demeaning in nature, and he spoke to me as if I was a child. He was not interested in symptoms or what I was experiencing, only prior labs. My records were not thoroughly reviewed before my appointment, though they required me have them sent. I ended up leaving the office in tears because of the way he was speaking to me. I went there looking for advice and insight as to the hormone problems I had been experiencing and I wanted to know if there was any commonality or explanation for what I was going through. Instead I was ridiculed and told that I would "pay the price someday" for medications that another doctor had prescribed me. Im just trying to feel better and looking for answers; this was an awful visit.

The staff communication skills are terrible, I am not sure that Dr. Segu knows what a lousy job his staff does. I received a statement from Dr. Segu’s office for $20, I paid that statement. I received another statement for $40, I called because it looked like I was overbilled. The person in the billing office hung up on me, I think she said her name is Murtintul (she does not speak English and I am not sure what she said even though I asked her several times). I called the billing office several times, reached a recording several times, was put on hold and then transferred to the appointment desk twice, reached a recording for that department. This is lousy customer service; lazy staff and they are not helpful. I called service times and left several messages, finally Emily returned my call. She could not explain why it showed a co-pay on certain days, she said, “the bottom line is you owe $40”. Each time I was at Dr Segu’s office I told them that I had a co-pay, the front… desk said you don’t have a co-pay because your doctor referred you. Dr. Segu’s staff needs lots of training, if they don’t know the answer, don’t guess, take the time to find the correct answer. He should also train his staff that they should not hang up on customers.

With only a two week notice I was informed after my last visit that Segu would not accept my Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO insurance any more. If I wanted to continue in his practice the cost would be around $140 per visit!! Segu's office staff gave absolutely no assistance in finding a diabetes Dr that would accept BCBS Tx PPO insurance. The majority of time I didn't see Segu but his Physicians Assistant. I always had the feeling that he was condescending to his patients because of his alleged superior intelligence. Perhaps his next step is politics where he can make a lot more money.

This office SUCKS! The've overbilled me. They can't get my medications called in, even after I've followed all directions. I've gotten labs drawn when asked, I've returned for follow up appointments when asked. I take my medication as directed. I've missed 3 days of work because my diabetes medications are out, and this office does NOT respond to my pharmacy about my medication that has NO refills left! I DO NOT recommend this place to any diabetic requiring workup by an endocrinologist!

Dr. Segu was very patient in listening to my medical history and reading through my medical records before ordering tests to clarify my current situation. He thoroughly explained his reasons for his current diagnosis and plan of treatment and followed up on results. In the past 15 years I have been treated at two highly rated teaching hospitals and had been under the care of a highly recommended endocrinologist with whom I was very satisfied for the past 10 years. We moved here in 2010, and I wasn't looking forward to finding a new doctor . I couldn't be happier with Dr. Segu. I don't believe I,ve ever had better, more intelligent care.

He was amazing. I had a very mild thyroid condition. He didn't dismiss my concerns. He listened and was very patient with me. Its thanks to him that my energy levels are back ad I feel like new. I can't thank and recommend Dr. Segu enough.

He's an awesome doctor, treats you as a human and not as a number. He takes his time and explains in detail whatever the conditions of your health and let's you know what to expect every step of the way throughout your recovery.

Dr. Segu did not switch my insulin when he put me on the insulin pump. It didn't work with the wrong insulin. I switched doctors & found out Novolog is the correct insulin for the pump.Another time, Dr. Segu added an insulin to my routine. With the additional insulin, I got extremely low blood sugars, and was blacking out. I called and faxed my sugar numbers as he told me to, and he returned my calls saying "Continue as is." Finally I spoke to his assistant, who paid attention & actually looked at the info. He told me that the insulin was supposed to replace the other & to stop taking the other. Dr. Segu did not listen and did not look at the data.
