Veronica Kamau, PMHNP-BC, DNP

Veronca Kamau, PMHNP-BC, DNP is a compassionate mental heath professional who embodies the skills of listening, understanding, and empowering patients. Practicing in-person in the Elk Grove, CA area, she also provides telehealth services across the state of California. All services provided are for 18+ patients. 

At Jabali Behavioral Health Nursing, Inc., Veronica works with patients experiencing symptoms of Depression/Mood Disorders, ​Anxiety, and ADHD. She also works with Cancer Patients and Survivors and Immigrants. Utilizing lifestyle coaching, various tests and evaluations, and therapy, among other treatment methods, Veronica's process typically involves a complementary consultation, intake appointment, and options for follow-ups. 

Veronica came to the United States from Kenya with her family in 2006. She balanced roles as a full-time mother, student, and employee while earning a nursing degree, becoming a nurse practitioner, and now pursuing a Doctorate in …Nursing. As an immigrant, she witnessed many people struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, and social stigma, and she strives to be a resource for those adjusting to a new life.

A rare cancer (GIST) diagnosis in 2011—while she was still a nursing student—required chemotherapy and surgery; she is now a survivor who believes in healing through both medical and holistic approaches (wellness, nutrition, faith, and personal care).

Veronica has seven years’ experience as an RN and has served as a nurse manager in Maryland working with clients deemed incompetent to stand trial, as well as people facing acute mental illness, addiction, and homelessness. She evaluates diagnoses, manages medications, and recommends neurostimulation treatments (TMS, ECT) when appropriate, and provides supportive psychotherapy for adults (anxiety, ADHD, and other needs).
