Dr. Victor L Carpiniello, MD

This review is for other patients. The practice knows my feelings so no response from the practice is necessary. My doctor was Victor Carpiniello and I was his patient for approximately 3 years. Cooper Health identified an enlarged prostate via CT scan and inserted a catheter to treat my urinary retention on 9/1/25 while I was on vacation. I visited Penn Urology Washington Square and Dr. Carpiniello on 9/5 to void but could not urinate naturally, so I still needed a catheter. My video urodynamics test was scheduled for 10/28/25 - 53 days later. My cystourethroscopy (which should have been test #1) occurred on 11/21/25 - 81 days after enlarged prostate was identified by Cooper. When this test was completed, Dr. Carpiniello stated that I needed surgery on the prostate to fix my problem and that his partner, Dr. Harris would do the surgery but Dr. Harris is supposedly not available until 1/6/26. If i stick to this schedule, who knows when enlarged prostate is fixed surgically… and my life can go back to normal? These delays were unacceptable, probably due to $$$ (Penn saving on payroll) because there were no other Penn doctors available to see me in the months that I was living life with a catheter. In addition, I was in the ER at 8th and Spruce on 9/27 and 9/28 because the catheter was not working properly and needed to be replaced by a larger sized catheter. I saw a Jeff doctor on 12/5 and got the surgery on 12/31, so take your business to another provider when they tell you there is no room on the schedule.

Victor Carpiniello seems more interested in golf than medical practice. As others have found and reported, on the UPennMedicine website, he is unprepared for meeting the patient and has no interest in gathering the information required to form a professional treatment plan, preferring in my case, to sell a procedure ('Urolift') that was not needed or necessary in the view of any other urologist. He did not want to discuss and prefers to talk. He failed to discuss risks and complications (but reported that he did so, in his notes). There were four other incidences of his reporting our 'discussions' for medical jurisprudence, but he did not bother to actually do any of those five things. Very unprofessional.

He screwed up my prostate with urolift implants. He didnt explain any result of the tests to me.. I had to find out how bad all those implants dislocated and tabs are dislodged.. horrible.. total nightmare.. 1000% i do not recommend this doctor to anyone.. plus he is VERY short on words and always in RUSH...

I had a UTI infection, etc. for over a year. I had been seeing Dr. Carpiniello during this time. He could not clear the infection and then performed a procedure that made matters worse. I was in distress. When I finally went to another urologist, he performed another surgical procedure that cured my urological problems. I am fine today. I would not recommend Dr. Carpiniello. Also, whenever I called his office, I was never able to speak to him and only a physician's assistant who many times had give me incorrect advice. No way to run a practice.

I first met Dr. Carpiniello, MD, in 2008...I had experienced pain for almost 3 years or more prior to seeing a doctor, you can say I had a high tolerence of pain but the truth of the matter is I was CRAZY...popping tylenol and rolling on the floor wasn't the answer...I wasn't aware of how severe the kidney stone was impacting my health or my kidneys...I remember that I litterally crawled into his office, I still remember his facial expression of WHY, didn't you get this checked out...He immediately, admitted me into the hospital and within days I had surgery, intially to remove the LARGE stone, the size of my actual Kidney... (I am not currently experiencing any damages to my kidney or it's ability to function)...I have since then had numerous treatments to shake and remove others... (Unfortunately, my body produces these stones, i watch my diet and drink plenty of water) it has been 2 years since then and my body is still producing them, but due to Dr. C's patience, knowlegde of his… practice, his caring bed side manner and his professionalism, I feel safe and secure that my condition is being managed by the best and I feel comfortable to inquire about any concerns...I highly recommend this physician and his team at the Pennsylvania Hospital.
