Dr. Victor Daniel Vela, MD

My doctors visit was ca 5 min video conference. I was rushed, interrupted and cut short. Very short general questions. I told him the last blood pressure med. did not work for me and he changed the prescription. Didn't ask me why or what symptoms etc. No consultation or explanation as to his assessment. I was floored.

I have been a patient of Dr. Vela’s for years. He always listens and does not rush through the visit. He has a very warm personality and explains everything in terms a lay person can understand. He remembers personal details you may have mentioned in a past visit that makes you feel he cares about you as a person as well as a patient. Recently referred a new patient to him. She thanked me after her first visit with Dr Vela saying she thought he was wonderful, too. I also have high praise for Dr Vela’s P.A. Stephen Hicks.

They were a 5 star office, but since they sold themselves to Christus I have trouble giving them a 3. The Docs are the same, luckily, but the office staff has changed and you can never get through on the phone, they don't call in prescriptions as promised.

Dr. Victor Vela is a wonderful caring Dr. I have seen him for various illnesses for over twenty years. He always has time for you and is prompt in working me and my wife in for appointments as well as being accurate in diagnosing medical problems.. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking an excellent primary care physican.

The new receptionist is VERY unprofessional and rude!!! No customer service manners. The doctors are great as always!

Dr. Vela is simply awesome. There just aren't enough adjectives to describe how good he is. He's compassionate, practical, supportive, and holistic in his approach to health care. I wish there were more doctors like him in the world.

I agree with the previous review - I am currently looking for another doctor, as every time I have seen him I feel like he doesn't listen to me, has already written me off as a complaining female. I have always liked his staff, and the wait is not long, but I've determined that he has made a diagnosis before he even comes in the room. I won't go back.

Outstanding! Straightforward, honest, comfortable. Tells me what I need to hear whether I want to hear it or not.

I would like to say, as a female who has had fibromyalgia since 1993 and injuries in my spine, I was treated like a "women with issues" He is narrow-minded in his thinking. I had been looking to understand why I was feeling worse, and with my own recommendation, I have found out that I am also dealing with LUPUS. My antibody count is off the charts. Had I not sent myself in search of a specialist, I would probably be even worse off. Another I have to make is that when I had asked for a specific blood work to be preformed, I was made to feel that it was a huge problem to classify and send to the insurance. The front desk person, felt that she could broadcast to the whole waiting area, my whole medical information. I was made to feel even worse, with others seated in the waiting area being told my medical history as well as what insurance code to place on the bloodwork. I find the whole office to be incompetant. My husband is a patient, and he is treated with the utmost respect. Look… elsewhere if you have been diagnosed with any type of pain disorder. Especially if you are a female.

What I am most impressed with is Dr. Vela's bedside manner, uncommon in many of today's doctors. I hope he never leaves Boerne.
