Dr. Vijaya Bansal, MD

A little over 21 years ago, I had the sad experience of delivering a beautiful stillborn baby girl, and I named her Carlee Jo. Dr. Bansal was my doctor through my pregnancy, and she was just as heartbroken as my husband and I were when we learned Carlee Jo was going to be born directly into the arms of Jesus. She was the best doctor during my pregnancy, but what says more about the wonderful kind of person that she is is how she acted during Carlee's birth and afterwards. She cried with us, she stayed up over 48 hours to deliver Carlee, and she sent the most beautiful arrangement of flowers to the funeral. I had a normal pregnancy and was a week overdue when Dr. Bansal scheduled a labor induction, however, Carlee had a double length umbilical cord with a true knot in it, and it was wrapped around her neck twice. She didn't make it to the date of inducing labor. In the late '90s, the sonograms were not as detailed as they are today and they only gave one during the pregnancy,… right around the 17th week of the pregnancy. At my follow-up visit with Dr. Bansal, she ran into the waiting room and gave my husband and I the biggest hugs. When we were blessed the following year to deliver a healthy baby girl (and another one after that as well) Dr. Bansal had already left Pittsburgh, PA and moved to California, but I called Dr. Bansal right after our second daughter was born to share the good news with her. I always hope the best for her. She still comes into my thoughts at different times through the years, and I'm so glad to see that she is still treating patients because any patient of hers is a lucky patient. She goes above and beyond and she's a beautiful human being, and I just wanted to let people know that she is one special person and one incredible doctor. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
