Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Galic, MD

Dr. Galic entered the appointment with her idea of treatment before even speaking to the patient. I tried to explain my health concern and give her some health history. She was dismissive asking “do you even know how (medication name) works?!”. She spoke down to me and seemed annoyed that she had to “deal with” a patient. As a woman seeking assistance I expected kinder and professional interaction. Dr Galic had me in tears and is the reason why so many women don’t seek medical help and end up sick or worse. Do no harm is not in her vocabulary. I highly recommend finding another doctor who has competency in both the medical school content as well as respect, compassion, and strong listening and communication skills.

Dr.Galic had no compassion she drew me a picture on her board and then told me to go to hospice 2 years ago she said nobody would ever do a surgery on me and said I should be in hospice And Dr Saldivar did my surgery he was so professional and. Still here thank God I never listened to Dr Galic I would be dead

I work with Dr. Galic at UMC El Paso. I am the Director of Patient Blood Management. Seeing her outstanding surgical skill is very refreshing for long time medical/surgical personnel. She understands the latest innovations with chemotherapy, is certified to do a new procedure known as Hi-Pec and is certified to give chemo intraoperatively. (Most surgeons rely on oncologist to give chemo.) Average blood loss on hysterectomy for her is 20mL. High blood loss for her in 18 hour cases is 300mL. Other Gyn/Onc average about 2,500mL of blood loss on log cases. Her transfusion ratio is extremely low. That is what you want with Gyn/Onc. Transfusion can greatly increases cancer reoccurrence. I have always found her to be kind and professional, yet not a sugar coater. She has my highest endorsement.

To be in El Paso and given my diagnosis I was sure I would go somewhere else than here. Once I met with Dr. Galic and was educated about my diagnosis, the possible solutions, explanation of the benefits and consequences of each choice, I was convinced that El Paso was now on the map having such a highly skilled doctor in their midst. Not that anyone wants to be in the position of surgery and cancer, but be happy she is in our back yard if needed. I still go in for cancer check ups, but any concerns are not there. She is awesome. Hope someone else doesn't recruit her.

No other Dr. in El Paso could figure out what was wrong with my concerns. When I met Dr. galic and gave all my concerns she knew what the issue was and how to remedy my concerns. She told me everything straight forward and sugar coated nothing. I couldn’t have asked for better service transparency and most important the integrity to do the right thing. My health is back on track. El Paso is lucky to have someone like her in the city because after visiting a handful of Dr’s she’s the only one who seems to know how to handle more than birthing a child.

After 6 months no one could find my health problem she did it, she works the most fast that she can do it with her team because I was in pretty bad condition and after 2 years of these I'm in good health conditions I'm so thankful with her

It was my first appointment with Dr. Galic and right away she told me, you only have 12-16 months left. Go home, there is nothing I can do for you. Get your will and advance directive ready and enjoy the tour last couple of months. I know cancer has no cure but as a cancer patient I definitely did not want to hear this. She didn’t even try anything for me. The worst Dr ever. No one should have to go through this.

Dr. Galic is one of the best doctor I have ever seen, she give you the information like it is doesn't sugar coat it. Very knowledgeable, confident answers all you concerns. She gives you all the options and then some so that the best decision is made. Lays out the play of action that will be taken. I was very happy with my office visit, but after it was determined that I would require surgery, that's when things got a little dicey. She tells you one thing and then does the complete opposite if you are not one of her patients with cancer then you fall into the cracks, she will continue to cancel your surgery, because she will tell you that her cancer patients come before all her other patients so she will fit you in when she can. She also stated that if you were in pre-op and ready for surgery that she would get to you on that same day. That didn't happen you are told to call the office the next day to reschedule, her nurse practitioner is young and hasn't been on the job long enough… and needs to work on her bedside manners. Once my surgery was to take place Dr. Galic came in said you didn't want me to operate on you yesterday that all she said and I haven't seen her since the surgery, I wanted to ask her question but have been unable to. So i feel like i was an after thought. Yes I understand that Dr. Galic is one of the best doctor out there but maybe she can take some time and visit with her patients. I would have also like to have thanked her for doing the surgery.

She is one of the best doctors I have ever seen and very kind and gentle. I would recommend her to anyone needing a good doctor.

Dr. Galic saved my life with her wonderful surgical skills - and she cared so much too!! It didn't matter when I called after hours, I never got an on-call doctor, it was always her - she's fantastic!!
