Dr. Vijay Kumar Nanda Kumar

Dr. Kumar is very charismatic, empathetic, thorough, and very professional. He is a great listener. He takes his time to make sure he addresses any and all medical needs. If he can’t personally fix your problem, he refers you to a specialist who can. He NEVER rushes through an appointment. He ALWAYS goes an extra mile to care for his patients.

When Kumar practiced in Castlewood he seemed to be a good Dr. After he moved to Norton we were very disappointed in his service. I'm a type 1 and type 2 diabetic so both Metformin and insulin are required to lower glucose levels any at all. Together they work great but either alone are completely useless. He would write prescriptions for insulin but even though my A1C and daily glucose levels stayed very high he refused to write Metformin which was the only way for me to maintain good glucose levels. My kidney and liver output levels were normal and well within the required Metformin prescribing range at that time. When I asked him why he wouldn't prescribe it he didn't answer except for once when he whispered "we have to get your insurance fixed first" while walking out. There was no problem with my insurance(I checked) or no reason for not prescribing Metformin as I learned from my next physician. I suspect the $18 we owed him was what he meant. My A1C and Glucose levels have… decreased significantly now that my new Dr prescribes Metformin along with the insulin but my kidney output is borderline now from my glucose remaining so high for so long while I was Kumar's patient. He laughs a lot, talks a lot but does not seem to listen. My wife was also his patient. It was impossible for either of us to get referrals done after he told us he would schedule them for months

Wonderful experience seeing Dr. Kumar. As a new patient with a new illness he took the time to explain everything to me and was very thorough in the gathering of his diagnosis.

This dr will go out of his way to give you the best medical treatment possible i seen him for many yrs

Dr Kumar is an excellent doctor and he takes time with his patients . I first went to see Dr Kumar after I saw him with his patients at the nursing home, such a kind and caring man.
