Dr. Vikas Garg, MD

I don’t know where some of his bad ratings are coming from. I almost didn’t see him because of them. I can only speak from my visits. Dr Garg took extra time to answer my questions and concerns. He’s personable with a good bedside manner. Also his staff was kind and helpful. I’m very satisfied with his care and highly recommend him.

I was his patient until he didn’t except my insurance, then he treated me very rudely told me I had to get rid of my insurance that AARP was s rotten insurance I never was going to go back to him but I was told by his office manager that they had got the insurance straightened out. I have never ever been treated like I was treated. Find another Doctor.

Dr. Garg, for one doesn't listen, he hears what he wants, treats you without giving you the reason why he is doing the injection on you and doesn't listen nor care about the after treatment of your treatment. All he is worried about is getting you in and out in the shortest amount of time. One of the last injections he did on me knocked me out for 36 hours due to the pain I was in, my mother thought I was dead, and called the ambulance to check on me. Dr. Garg thinks for the majority patients are addicted to medication he prescribes, even though it is his office policy to go in every month for refills and he prescribes the medication then forgets what he has prescribed and if there are any issues, he automatically calls you addicted. He has been treating me for months now even though out of his own mouth I need surgery but will not refer me to a surgeon, because of the money he makes off my insurance for doing injections and the office visits, which by now he has been paid in the tens… of thousands of dollars for treating me, with no real relief on my end, and I have told him time and time again, I am getting worse and the CT Scans verify it. I am in constant pain even though the medications he prescribed to me don't work but he won't think out of the box to see if there are new treatments that may relief my suffering. I am so disappointed in him that he treats you no better than a cow in a stockade getting injections. No matter what the outcome is and whether or not they work, he keeps doing it just to get the insurance money. Not caring about you the patient and your needs to find relief and live a normal life.

When I spoke with him of my pain in my elbow he automatically touched exactly where the pain was.

He needs to slow down. He doesn't take the time to listen. To many injections with no good results. Still had to have back surgery.

Dr Garg comes across as very professional and quiet, but I believe he genuinely cares and tries his best to find a good solution to help me.

My family and I just moved to Logan from out of state for a job change, where we had lived in a large, metropolitan city for over 20 years. After 3 back surgeries and steel pins inserted in my spine due to an injury and degenerative disc disease, I have suffered with severe chronic pain for about 15 years. The pain center in the city where we lived (which was associated with a large hospital/medical school) put me on Methadone 12 years ago after trying just about every narcotic known to man with poor results. Methadone works great for me, and is the only drug that has come close to managing my chronic pain. Due to being on it for so long, the Docs there have titrated me up to a fairly high dose. Arriving in Logan I shortly discovered the attitude toward Methadone is extremely negative, and most of those I saw before I found Dr. Garg said they would NEVER write a Methadone prescription. One doctor told me I would have to go to Ogden or SLC to get any help with my care. Obviously… Logan has yet to come into the 21st century with regard to pain management, as Methadone has become known to be a great drug for chronic pain for those that it works on. The pharmacist that filled my first Rx from Dr. Garg told me that Idaho State University Pharmacy school tells their students that Methadone is a great drug and that society should not be afraid of its use just because of its association with getting people off of Heroin. How's that for a dichotomy in Logan? The docs won't write it, but the pharmacists know it's a great drug when used properly. I think the fact that it's used to get people OFF of heroin gets lost in translation with most of these local docs, and they're scared of it only because of the association. Dr. Garg is the only doctor that agreed to help me with my Methadone, and is slowly getting me down to a more reasonable dosage. He's also done some injections that have helped with the sciatic pain. He's a very caring, understanding man, and he sincerely asks for the patient's input into how they think he should proceed with the care. How many doctors ask the patient that?? Not many, that's for sure. If you're on Methadone and considering a move to Logan, or considering using it to manage chronic pain, be aware! Logan is way behind the times with respect to pain management, and there's a terrible attitude toward people that are on it. I think most of these docs forget that the patient did not and cannot write the prescriptions for the drug, another doctord had to do that. But yet these doctors treat the patients using it as if they're the bad guy for being on it, and we must be drug addicts if we're using it. It's a known fact that if a person is using a narcotic for pain, as prescribed, they cannot get addicted to the medication. Certainly one will get dependent on Methadone, due to its horrible withdrawl symptons, but addicts seek drugs illegally, take more than they should, and lie, cheat and steal to get the drug. People that use Methadone for chronic pain are not addicts! Two thumbs up for Doctor Garg. He's a good man with a good heart, and sincerely tries to do the right thing for the patient. He became a doctor for the right reason!
