I typically don't leave reviews, but feel that my experience with Dr.Merchia can help point women that struggle with urological disorders in the right direction. I have suffered with Chronic Interstitial Cystitis starting from age 7 and I'm now 27 years old. After years of extreme chronic pain, misdiagnosis and unanswered misery I took every step to find a doctor who could help me. I found Dr. Merchia and he saved/changed my life forever. He is proactive, takes his time with you, accommodates with your schedule, is in constant communication, and goes to every length to solve your medical issues. He was proactive with my case and was the first to diagnose me with IC. After finding a regimen that worked through trial and error I now after 20+ can live a normal life. I've seen several doctors and specialists and nobody compares to the results/success I've seen with Dr.Merchia. I highly recommend him for ANY urogynecological situation.

Dr Merchia was recommended by my PCP and he has been everything my PCP had hoped for me, helping me though a hysterectomy with prolapse and his follow up care is thorough. He makes me think more about the little things.

Dr. Merchia is the kindest doctor. He spent extra time with me, truly listened to me. His staff is amazing & kind. I can't imagine seeing any other Doctor. I original saw him for bladder issues. Which we discovered were caused by other problems which we were able to address. He was been with me through 2 pregnancies. One of which ended in still born. No one was more supportive though it than he was. I would sit in the waiting room for hours for this doctor. (I never have, but certainly worth the wait) He does often have students with him. He always asked if it was ok that they come in.

I found Dr. Merchia to be friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and patient with my long list of questions regarding my condition. I sensed he really cared about my personal situation and that regardless of him having to go overtime with the consult with me, even with the possibility of him already being behind with other patients to follow, he gave me the time and patience and didn't make me feel bad about it either. In my opinion, I would rather a doctor who puts addressing the needs of the patient as higher priority than keeping to an exact schedule. In addition, even though it was not planned for that particular visit, he performed an in-office procedure that was necessary for my treatment plan which not only relieved my high anxiety but also expedited results that I needed. I asked for this to be done and although it really should have been a separate appointment, he kindly did it (and it didn't even hurt and I attribute that to his experience). Because he did this for me… despite the impact on his own schedule makes me feel that he cares about each patient's needs which I think is a very important attribute in a doctor. Finally, it was his assurance that this in-office procedure was no big deal and quick that made me able to cancel a hospital visit to perform something similar. He seems to be one of not a large number the specialized knowledge and experience with urogynecology.
