Dr. Vinaya Kudva Kamath, MD

I loved Dr Kamath on my first visit. She wrote down for me the 3 different values which say it’s time for parathyroid surgery, gave me the names of some surgeons, as she felt surgery was in my future, and ordered 2 tests - a new Dexa scan as my last was a few years ago, and one lab test that was missing. The 2nd appointment she seemed both rushed and distracted. My Dexa results met the criteria for surgery that she wrote down in the first visit - but this visit she dismissed those results and talked only about the other values(which were not and had not been issues for me). She had a calculation she needed to do with the lab results and would call me. It’s now been 2 weeks and no call or message on the patient portal. My after visit summary IS posted, but it calls me by a different name-something a quick look over would have caught. Overall, I’m disappointed. While I think she’s bright, I’ll be looking for another doc.

I don't usually write reviews but I've been so disappointed with Dr. Kamath and her office that I felt compelled to share my experience, and I see that others have had similar experiences. My main complaint is with Dr. Kamath's office staff but I consider this an extension of her practice that she is ultimately responsible for. At both her old Lousiville location and at her new Boulder location I have a very hard time getting someone on the phone when I would leave a message (3 times) they do not call back at all. I've never had the experience of a doctor's office failing to call me back. My second complaint, that others have also mentioned in these reviews, is that she seemed hasty in her time with me. I was never with her for more than 15 min totall and she felt rushed. The two times I did see her in person she was actively reviewing my notes in front of me while I was in the room signaling that she was just in the moment getting up to speed on my case. I had to remind her of some… of the complexity of my thyroid situation. My expectation of a professional doctor is that they have carefully reviewed my file PRIOR to seeing me. I want to feel confident that my doctor is holding all the factors relevant in my care particularly with complex cases like mine (e.g. I was having some allergic reactions to different thyroid medicines). I did not have this confidence with Dr. Kamath which was compounded by my poor experience with the competency of her office staff. Ultimately I chose to switch doctors. I assume that Dr. Kamath is a good doctor and if she seeks to improve I would simply ask that she slows down to really make sure she is treating patients with the attention they deserve and figure out what support her office team needs to meet basic professional standards.

I've been with Dr. Kamath going on 10 years and she is very good at what she does for me.

Appt was at 230, Dr will see you in 35mins after the nurse do initial vital sign. Ridiculous wait time.

In 2005 I was diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer by Dr. Kamath,MD. She was located in a different office then and my whole experience was wonderful. Office staff kind and thoughtful, Dr. Kamath and associates were kind, explained treatment and followed up on my case before I sadly moved out of state where treatment is discouraging. I am surprised at the negative comments made recently. Try New Mexico!? That's a joke!!!!

This doctor did not call me back for 48 hours after her office staff promised for two days that she would return my call. RUDE!

While I found Dr. Kamath to be very personable initially, that changed once I asked about other treatment options for my 'hot' nodule. She attempted to railroad me into a treatment that I wasn't comfortable with and I didn't appreciate that. She also did not inform me of any other options which I knew to be available. There are other ways to treat thyroid problems other than irradiation. I'm a professional scientist working in the clinical research field and I found her unwillingness to even discuss any option other than irradiation to be disturbing. I have since gone to a different doctor and had a different experience. They were very up front about all options and we found a way forward that we were both comfortable with pursuing.

I saw Dr. Vinaya Kamath based off of a referral from my primary care physician after a routine blood exam showed an undectectable level of thyroid stimulation hormone. Dr. Kamath was enormously helpful during my initial visit, but all follow up with her office proved to be a disaster. Dr. Kamath's assistant verbally told me that I needed one scan, then ordered a different one through the hospital. I left multiple messages over a three-week period that went unreturned. Dr. Kamath's assistant and office staff then gave me conflicting information, and the assistant was aggressive and hostile when she was asked about her inconsistencies. The assistant even claimed that I was lying about leaving messages with their office. Ultimately, the office seemed disorganized and I felt significant concern that any treatment I received there might not be adminstered correctly if handled by anyone but Dr. Kamath herself. It seemed wise to see someone else.
