Dr. Waheeda Mithani, MD

She is one of the best doctors I've dealt with. She answered all my questions and made me very comfortable before my surgery. I will recommend her to all my family and friends.

My PCP recommended Dr Mithani as the surgeon to do my weight-loss surgery-- specifically, the Gastric Bypass procedure. From the first appointment, I felt comfortable with the doctor and her staff. She spent the time to explain all the processes and was able to answer any questions I had. As I was probably one of her older patients (73 at the time of surgery), there were obviously many concerns; and she reassured me of the relatively minor nature of the surgery, but also explained any risks. It wasn't going to be an easy path. There were many requirements -- some of which were required by the insurance carrier -- but I was given step-by-step instructions on how to complete. I had to prove I could follow diet instructions; plus I had to get clearance from other specialists, such as pulmonary, cardiac, diet, and gastroenterology. The surgery itself went well, with just two days in the hospital. Dr Mithani followed up in the hospital to reassure me all went well and reviewed… my progress. I had a question a couple days after my hospital release, and I was able to contact the doctor at home to reassure me all was normal. Since the procedure, there were many dietary requirements; but, here again, detailed instructions were provided to ensure proper progress. Follow-up appointments with the doctor and staff ensured I was following instructions; and my weight loss was constantly encouraged. It has been almost a year and a half since the surgery, and I am near my goal weight. Don't be mislead, it takes a constant effort to follow dietary requirements and exercise requirements; but here again the doctor and staff offer only encouragement and suggestions. If you have been fighting a losing battle with obesity, especially over a long period of time, see Doctor Mithani for a consultation; and then... DON'T WAIT, JUST DO IT!!

Avoid this doctor at all costs! Unprofessional, poor clinical judgment, should not be a surgeon!

Dr. Mithani is arrogant, unprofessional, dishonest and perhaps one of the worst physicians out there. She came up with some off the wall diagnosis for me which caused me a lot of pain and suffering. She claims to know what she's doing but her clinical knowledge is so lacking and scary. I would avoid her if you can.
