Dr. Waqas Ahmad Qamar, MD

Dr. Waqas Qamar and the staff of Desert Blossom Health and Rehabilitation Center forced my mother to lay in a bed with an untreated UTI for a month! Also, my mom was also being prescribed 12.3 mg of Ambien by her primary physician. She has been on this for about 10 years. This is twice the recommended dosage. Now I did tell the staff at Desert Blossom Health and Rehabilitation Center that I wanted her off this medication - I didn't expect them to take her off cold turkey! Dr. Waqas Qamar should have known better!! I live in Minnesota and over the course of a month, I noticed that my mom became more and more confused. Because of this, I decided to fly down. When I arrived, my mom didn't know what state she was in. She believed she was in Minnesota or Nebraska, not Arizona. She believed her deceased husband and deceased parents were still alive. She believed the room she was in was the room she used to work in over 10 years ago. At one point, "Dr" Qamar was scheduled to see my mom,… but he never showed up. I had to pester the case manager, and about 4 hours later she was able to get him on the phone. He was extremely rude and short. Would only answer direct questions. Didn't offer anything up. We had to convince him to test her for an UTI. The sample wasn't pulled for another 3 days. Finally, mom had an appointment to see her podiatrist. The podiatrist was very concerned about the amount confusion and pain my mom was in. The podiatrist also informed me that the date to remove a brace from mom's broken ankle/heel was delayed by week because of a rash. A rash she got because she ingested her own fecal matter while staying at this Desert Blossom. In order to save my mom, I had to her admit to an ER and then find another rehab facility. Desert Blossom Health and Rehabilitation Center needs to be shut down and Dr Qamar should lose his medical license!
