Dr. Welby Nielsen, DO

My son was under Dr. Nielsen's care for approximately one and a half months. He was suffering from severe depression. Dr. Nielsen prescribed medication, but my son's depression became more acute. Dr. Nielsen decided my son needed more care and was was no longer able to see him. I’ve since learned that my son was given a referral team’s phone number via email and a letter was sent. No one contacted him in person. It was beyond my son’s ability to navigate his future care alone. I, as his mother, who'd been in frequent contact with Dr. Nielsen’s office, and, who'd been given permission by my son to share information, was never told of the doctor’s specific recommendation. I don’t even know if my son knew. I called Dr. Nielsen’s office asking what responsibility they took for my son's future care and found out only then that partial hospitalization was being recommended. I was given the number of the referral team. (They've never answered my calls.) That same morning, my son took his… life.

Dr. Nielsen is a kind soul who takes time to have conversation with you and really understand you. He has been flexible as I have navigated medication changes. Highly suggest him!

The dr did not listen to my concerns about my condition or my other dr recommendations for my care. He stopped a medication to abruptly resulting in bad side effects. Even after learning this at the next appointment, he made no effort to try to alleviate the situation
