Dr. Wendy R Gaines, MD

I wish I could give Dr. Wendy Gaines 0 stars. She is the worst physician I have ever worked with. I am 26 and six months into changing my life to be healthier. However, while going over my history and my weight gain from the past year, I felt judged by Dr. Gaines at every moment. Constant jabs about my weight and alcohol intake during the height my depressive episode due to the pandemic were made throughout the appointment. I do not drink nearly as often as I used to (about 2/3 glasses of wine on a Friday or Saturday), and was still shamed for it. Every question I had about my health would come back to my weight gain, and shamed me at every chance she could about this subject. She also claimed that I was late, even though I arrived at the appointment on time. She made references to my tardiness throughout the appointment by telling me that we couldn't get to specific subject matter because she is "on a schedule and that's how it is". Overall, I do not recommend Dr. Wendy Gaines and… recommend that she stop practicing medicine. I left the office in tears and I will never go back.

Although my daughter forewarned me, saying "I'm not sure she is the right doctor for you, Mom". She further stated that having worked with her years earlier, she found her to be 'very direct' to which I responded, "I'm OK with direct", and due to logistics, I needed to find a new Primary Care Dr. What I didn't expect on my first visit was to find her to be very abrupt, rude, judgmental and uncaring. I felt like I was in a courtroom as she stared at her computer screen and rapidly grilled me with one question after another, only briefly making eye contact with me between questions. My visit ended with Dr. Gaines glancing at the clock and asserting "55 minutes; that's it - you're done. That's all you get". Needless to say I was shaken and choking back tears by the time I got out of there. As a side note, I felt very sorry for her trainee who looked like she wished she was anywhere else but in that room. Never ever again!

Very pleased with this doctor. She was able to evaluate and treat my condition quickly. She was also pleasant to speak with.

She not listen what your problem

Dr. Gaines saw me the same day I called after my primary doctor could not see me on such short notice for suspected Lyme disease. Dr. Gaines was very complete in evaluating all of my symptoms. She prescribed the required antibiotic and told me to feel free to contact her if I had any further questions or problems. She was great! It's worth noting that Dr. Gaines is not the type of person to chat things up. She is there to treat people and she does it well. If your expect her to spend twenty minutes in conversation, you need to go elsewhere. But if you want a doctor who knows her stuff and wants her patients to be healthy again, this is the physician to see.

She is so MEAN, very judgemental. She rushes you, and only stares at her screen. Then puts a timer on and tells you she has no more time for you. STAY AWAY.

Dr. Gaines is thorough, good hearted, and intelligent. I am used to bringing a book when I see her due to long wait times. The staff and nurses are extremely helpful and sweet. However, I do wish that Dr. Gaines did not sound so judgmental. Most people who know me would think I am a picture of health, but Dr. Gaines likes to point out the very minor or sometimes only potential problems I have and makes me feel bad. I understand that it is her job to caution a patient, but there must be ways to do so in an encouraging and kind manner. Another thing that bothered me was that once I had a physical with her, and she charged me for it. I called and asked why, she told me that I asked specific questions and that constituted as consultation. Then she said, do you not think it is fair to pay for a service? I was outraged. I have asked a gazillion questions during my children's wellness visits every year and never been charged for a dime - it is what the insurance policy had stipulated.… Secondly, I am sure she did not give me physical exam for free even if I did not actually pay out of pocket. I do pay healthy insurance premiums and there must be some kind of arrangements between PCPs and insurance companies. I found the experience so rude and unfair that I did not have physicals for years and now I am switching to a different doctor. I am sure that Dr. Gaines has the best intentions, and she has never misdiagnosed once for me. I just wish that she can learn from patients' feedback, improve her "bedside manner", and be kinder and more empathetic. Being a doctor is as much a profession of science as art and compassion.

What a pleasure it is to have a Doctor that You could not see yourself without!! Dr. Gaines is the Best and refers you to the best when needed.
