Dr. Wendy Dawn Hoyt, PhD

Absolutely awful experience. Mixed me up with other patients, blamed me for her poor billing records maintenance and held me to a higher standard(ie being on time, not cancelling for child care emergencies, etc) than she did herself. Therapy went round in circles without ever reaching a solution on anything, except blame put on me.

DO NOT see this therapist. I went to her for grief counseling for several major events in my life and not only did she not help me with any of it, she actually implied that I was, in so many words, doing therapy wrong because I would "just come in each time and talk about my week" and she actually said that because of this, therapy might be "a waste of my time and a waste of insurance money." She was dismissive, rude, heartless, unprofessional and in fact her behavior was extremely triggering for me due to the situations I'd been dealing with and she knew that it would be. She yawns during sessions, doesn't seem at all engaged, doesn't remember details you've told her several times and so you have to repeat yourself. She then had the audacity to imply that she thought since I talked about the same things a lot that I might have some kind of memory problem...I was talking about the same things because, 1. they were still going on and 2. she did nothing to help me cope with them. She… will NOT help you get better, she will make things worse and you'll have to start all over with a new therapist. Her staff ended up billing me and not my insurance even though I was EXPLICIT with Wendy that I could not afford her rate. I don't know if she just didn't bother to explain it to her staff or didn't care or what. The staff was nice about it and apologized and refunded the money to my account. Wendy however, even when I confronted her about how horribly she left me in my last session had ZERO remorse, refused to apologize and in fact tried to imply that I was overreacting to the whole thing. When someone who knows you are in serious grief flippantly implies that your problems (and you to an extent) are not worth the insurance money....RUN away. My PCP ended up putting it in my medical record that I needed grief counseling and referred me to someone new who specializes in grief therapy. Hopefully it will be a better fit. Wendy Hoyt should be reported. Stay far away from this woman.

Not effective therapy. Went around and around in circles. No true empathy

Dr. Hoyt is determined, caring and dedicated to help improve your life. She helps you dig deep with in yourself and find your power. Some may call her feisty. BUT as I see it, she will help fight the negative voice in your mind, until we are able to fight it ourselves. If you are willing and dedicated to working hard, she will be your biggest supporter!

Worst experience ever. Her personal skills are abhorrent.
