Whitney L. Clearwater, MD, MPH

Whitney L. Clearwater, MD, MPH, FACOG, is Associate Program Director, Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Urology and Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Clearwater specializes in collaborating with patients to develop treatment plans tailored to their lifestyles for women experiencing pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, accidental bowel leakage, painful bladder syndrome, mesh complications and vesicovaginal fistula. Depending on the condition, she offers exercises, dietary modifications, medications, office-based treatments and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including vaginal and robotic approaches.After earning her Master of Public Health in biostatistics and epidemiology at the University of Southern California in 2011, Dr. Clearwater earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University …of Kansas in 2015. She then completed her obstetrics & gynecology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2019. Dr. Clearwater remained at this institution to complete a clinical fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery in 2023.Dr. Clearwater’s academic interests include global health and medical education. Her work has been published in many peer-reviewed journal articles and abstracts, and she has shared her work through numerous educational lectures, workshops and presentations.Dr. Clearwater is an active member of national organizations related to her specialty, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS). She was nominated to the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Leo M. Davidoff Medical Student Teaching Award from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women's Health for multiple years.
