Dr. Whitney Eileen Shoemaker, DO

She performed an Un-needed and Unwanted Surgery on me. She took away my periods and my ability to have children. I even begged her before the surgery, please dont do anything unnecessary as I am trying to have a child right now. - I am in constant pain every day. She would not tell me for months what she did to me...I just woke Up pouring Blood. She is a Monster.

I was going to Dr Shoemaker for a year. Paid $5000.00 out of pocket for a procedure along with check ups. I was told by her office she is in network. I stopped going to her in December 2023 January I get a bill for over $500 as she was not in network and now charging me. I called her collections office with my insurance provider on 3way, the collector was very rude, unprofessional and in fact hung up on us. We called bk got same person the insurance provider stated when they called for Pre-Authorization they knew they were NOT in net work and should had informed me after first visit, not send me a bill after 6 visits a year later. There office will not assist me in clearing this up only telling me to call the collection agency. I do not recommend this office. Misleading information and I will seek legal counsel!!

Very Knowledgeable Dr

Dr. Shoemaker’s staff is always very friendly and courteous. Always willing to answer any questions I might have.

I brought my 14 year old step daughter in for an appointment with Dr Shoemaker and I can not begin to tell you how wonderful of an experience it was. She was so kind, compassionate and comforting to her. She explained everything to her throughly but in a way she would understand, was patient when she was nervous and really made the whole appointment so much easier on her. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a gynecologist for themselves or their young daughter.

Dr Showmaker is very kind, thoughtful, excellent in her field. The office staff is great and very diligent. Best GYN I’ve ever had in my life.

Part one- First and foremost, I don’t normally write reviews unless I’m thoroughly pleased or dissatisfied. Unfortunately, I was not too pleased with the overall experience I have had with this particular office. I want to inform our community or at least give them a heads up of what they’ll be getting themselves into. I went to this office a total of 4 times, but have actually been seen only 3 of those times. My first initial appointment I made via phone and when I had arrived, they told me I was a day early. They had no way to prove that it wasn’t that very day. They did not give me a call or text to inform and confirm the initial appointment regardless. That set me two weeks back. For my first “official” appointment, they took half an hour to see me. Did a couple of tests and obtained a urine sample. I ended up seeing the nurse practitioner instead of the actual doctor, which I was okay with at the time. I later come to find out that many patients don’t even ever see the… doctor. I suppose it depends on the types of cases and/or request per patient. I also want to mention and make note that this particular doctor only does gynecology work at her office not obstetrics— which is fine, but it is a heads up for any patient who would like to have some form of consistency and grow with the doctor- especially if they are planning to become pregnant in the future. And on a short side note, my observation has lead me to believe the doctor is mainly focused on the other side of her practice which consists of: cosmetic services, lasering and weight loss; while, the nurse practitioner is the main practitioner for all the other medical gynecological-focused services, since the doctor chooses not to do obstetrics. My second appointment I was ten minutes late coming from out of town. But regardless, they saw me about half an hour later, which was fine at the time but I was waiting for important results and got nervous if I would be seen at all. They ended up seeing me and performing some procedures. I asked about some potential take-home pamphlets, but they did not have the resources at the office. I also asked about the urine sample results from the sample they obtained on the last visit, but the nurse practitioner was unaware that they obtained any sample at all during that visit— which unfortunately showed me the lack of communication at times between the staff members. Overall, I appreciated the efforts of the healthcare and office staff for trying to accommodate. I, too, am in healthcare myself and understand fully the time and healthcare-to-patient ratio constraints and whatnot; however my last visit was unfortunate. I came to the office probably about 9 minutes late; I had a pretty good feeling they’d make me wait a good half hour regardless per consistent experience and observation. I actually had to wait a whole hour before I asked politely about the realistic time frame of being seen and I was to say the least, disappointed. They responded, in their defense, that I have been late these past few appointments and they will just end up rescheduling me if I was even a minute late the next visit. I would like to note that there were at least 2 other patients waiting with me during that hour that arrived before I did and were not seen or addressed of the medical office’s tardiness. They failed to communicate their delayed schedule and time management that day until several of the patients had to ask for themselves having made prior engagements that are now conflicted with. Also, a patient that came in after all of us have arrived was able to be seen immediately. Perhaps, this was based on the type of service she was seeking and the healthcare provider providing it; ie, medical v cosmetic, Doctor v nurse practitioner who runs the main clinic. Part two- Dealing with sensitive issues in healthcare, I could only hope this would promote a basic level of respect, flexibility, professionalism and open, clear, consistent communication among healthcare and office workers and their patients. But most importantly, I could only hope that all medical offices could at least uphold a basic level of care standard and an accountability and desire to grow and serve their patients better. To my disappointment, I did not sense that at this particular office. They were able to see me then for this one time. I was informed by the office manager that next time, they would just reschedule- which I understand fairly. I was kindly encouraged by a healthcare assistant to call next time to see how their schedule is and if they’re running behind and are willing to accommodate or not that day. I have no personal feelings for this office. I just wanted to give an honest review of what new and probably existing patients are dealing with in today’s healthcare unfortunately. Long story short: I waited for an hour to have a 5 minute actual physical hands on care and be seen and read results. I know I am not the only one in this case.
