Dr. William Howard Buddin, PhD

Dr. Buddin, although we were previously told how wonderful he was, was invalidating, condescending, and just plain wrong. I sought Dr. Buddin's care as an adolescent to hopefully test and diagnose potential neurodivergent disorders such as adhd and autism. He completely invalidated and minimized my perspective, as well as insinuating I was malingering and "just severely anxious." He refused to test further than the inventory he sent me because my intelligence made it seem like there were no chances for neurological or developmental issues. He said and I quote, "Yeah you may have mild autism, but it's really not worth it to test you." He recommended referrals and medications that my therapist and general practitioner were both against. When I explained what my therapist and I would discuss to him, he completely blew me off. I left both meetings I had with him crying and feeling crazy. Months later, I have now been properly diagnosed with adhd and am on a SNRI and Adderall without him!

Received the wrong test and was over charged. Blue Cross is involved for over a month and I still do not have the excess paid. We spoke about the tests my daughter was to take. I paid his discount price. He gave the wrong set of tests. The age group was wrong for one of them but he could not find the correct age group so he said it would be fine. When I realized all that went wrong it was too late. He then took the payment from Blue Cross and did not return all he should have. He was paid over the scheduled Blue Cross rate which means I should receive money back. A month after Blue Cross contacted him I still don't have my the excess paid back to me. I've been trying about 5-6 months now. Blue Cross a month. When we asked about the change in tests he said the counselor that referred us was not qualified to select the test. They prefer Dr Teitner one of his former partners. He gives the correct tests.

Referred to his former business group for battery of tests. For some reason he left the group. Some how we ended up with him. We were supposed to see Gordon Teichner, Ph.D., ABPP. From what I have read he is board certified. Buddin did not seem prepared for us. My daughter was to take a battery of tests that would take 2-3 hours. She received 1 test that took 45 minutes. He changed the tests and when we questioned it, told us the referring counselor was not qualified to decide on the tests to give. The counselors office does this routinely with Tiechner. They like the write-up he gives. When we asked about the bill he told us the amount quoted was correct we will see. One test he gave me was for the wrong age group. It was up to 18. My daughter is 19. Does not seem like much until you realize the questions might be geared to a 5 year old. He looked for the right age group but could not find it so he told me it would be alright to use the one he gave me. The sum of the amount paid by… BCBS and me was over the scheduled rate based on the explanation of benefits I received. It took many, many calls to correct a billing error. It has been over 3 months now and I do not have the extra money I was charged. I am being told a check is in the mail but from what I've calculated based on the explanation of benefits I do not think the amount is correct. I don't understand why. I was told to speak to his billing person. She argued with me about whether it was good she made a mistake. It her opinion it is good because now I can get money back. To me it means I have to pay other providers and have this money floating that I cannot seem to get back for over 3 months. One of the many arguments. She told me she could hear I was upset so she did not want to talk to me and we would have to talk later. In my opinion she seems to enjoy withholding the money. Due to the delay in correcting the bill, (over a month) I had other charges go through BCBS. I told her several times. My wife had an emergency room visit and I am over the deductible and need the money. The last conversation we had after she told me a check was in the mail was she did not know that. From what I know about the amount I think it is wrong. The mistake I made was not waiting for the Blue Cross bill and paying with my credit card. I thought all was good but learned the hard way. Do not pay in advance no matter what the offer is. Now I have one complaint with BCBS going through and one with the BBB. I don't think he is a member but they are going to contact him. The test changes and lack of before hand knowledge, not being able to get him involved with the billing, the return of money I believe I am owed and lack of returned phone calls from the beginning when I was patient to the end when I was not dropped the score. The write-up done, again in my opinion seemed to regurgitate much of what we told him.
