Dr. William Earl Cunningham, MD

Saw “Dr” Cunningham only one time. He was fairly dismissive, but I just went along with it. I told him that my health has been steadily declining for more than two years and that I need someone who will show an interest in getting to the bottom of the problem. Cunningham had no such interest. He told me to come back in six months. Six months is a very long time when your health is deteriorating. Cunningham (who acted like I wasn’t particularly in any need of help during the appointment) called the police to come to my home 3 days later. The officer who arrived told me that he was required to call DCFS. If I was in such a bad state that I needed to be removed from my home, why would a reputable doctor not offer me any medical care or at least not try to put me into a system where I would also lose my civil rights? Why would he not put me into a nursing home if I really need to be cared for? I have insurance for goodness sake. Why is some group home better than a place that includes… health care, especially since obtaining health care was the reason I even saw him in the first place? After the officer was here, I wrote an email to Cunningham asking to be placed in an inpatient physical rehabilitation center to build my strength back up and to have better nutrition available, since cooking meals is difficult for me with my health as it is. I explained that since I have all my faculties and am thinking clearly, it would be a waste of the government’s time and money to make me a ward of the state. I reiterated that I have insurance and need medical assistance, not to lose my freedom in a system that’s just as hard to get out of as foster care is. A request to go somewhere that could treat my issues seems reasonable to me, considering that he had demonstrated that he thinks I need to be out of my home anyway, but I received no response. Two days later I emailed again, asking if they had received my email. Again, no response. Later I emailed the receptionist to cancel my upcoming appointment. No response. This whole experience makes absolutely no sense at all and I can easily say in good conscience that I have no faith that this man would competently treat your health issues or even treat you with respect if you were to choose to visit this clinic. Cunningham’s final disrespect to me? He didn’t even send my prescriptions in until yesterday: a full 34 days after I saw him. Who does that? Plus, I still have an upcoming battle with DCFS to look forward to thanks to this guy. What a horrible little man.

Dr. Cunningham is an amazing dr. He actually takes the time to talk to his patients, get to know them, and listens to their concerns. He is open to his patients questions and does not make a predetermined diagnosis before he enters your room. I have been going to him for a little over a year, and I recommend him to everyone I know!
