Dr. William Gilmer Flowers, MD

Dr. Flowers is caring and reliable. In my most recent illness, his evaluation determined a quick referral to the Howard County Hospital. He wheeled me to the Howard County Emergency Room and stayed with me until I was admitted. What a guy!

I have been a patient of this practice for many years but my most recent appointment has made me decide to leave this practice. For starters, the health assistant who took my blood pressure did it without me removing a long sleeved sweater and two heavy shirts. Her claimed reading was 120/82. Since my systolic blood pressure has never been over 110, I asked my pharmacist to repeat it less than an hour later---His reading was 96/68. More importantly, my reasons for seeking a new physician at another facility were because my interaction with Dr. Flowers. During his time with me, never once did he inquire about my current medications--including over the counter drugs. He did not inquire or confirm my drug allergies. I was being seen for a respiratory complaint. I have a known history of asthma. Never once did he ask about my asthma or my asthma medicine or regime. No questions regarding what my peak flow readings or if I was having any wheezing. When he examined me, he… attempted to listen to my heart and lungs through that same thick heavy sweater and two shirts. I seriously doubt he could hear anything--as an emergency room nurse, I know the proper method to accurately assess a patient's heart and lung sounds involves placing the stethoscope directly on the patients skin. The rest of his exam was so abbreviated, I felt like he might as well have been waving a magic wand over me. He never actually felt my lymph nodes (on my neck). The office uses an electronic medical record (computerized), he used it to alert me that I should schedule a physical exam since my last one was two years ago. I will not be returning to this practice. My health care is too important to allow it to be interpreted by individuals who take such enormous short cuts.

Fine dactor care all around. Scheduling is busy but careful and the staff is very good.

Dr. Flowers and the practice, are an asset to the community.

If you are looking for a doctor you can trust, you could not find one better than Dr. Wm. Flowers. I have never had to think twice about how I was treated or the meds. I needed to take. I am a long time patient and will remain so for many years to come.
