Dr. William Burdette Holmes, MD

This doctor needs to retire! If you don't mind making an appointment and then sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours and another hour in the room, then you will like this doctor. In addition to this, getting a prescription called into your pharmacy will take at least four days and don't expect a phone call to let you know it has finally been called in. The doctor likes to talk a lot but rarely about what you are there for for and don't expect to have any of your health issue resolved after your visit.

Dr. Holmes is a very good doctor and very informative. He spends as much time with us as we need and answers all our questions and concerns. Office wait is a little long but worth it.

Most of the complaints are honest and I agree with a number of them. However, I went in to see him with a very serious illness; he diagnosed me and set me up with the hospital within 15 minutes. Upon arrival at the hospital I was asked why I was there, I told them of the diagnosis I had gotten from Dr. Holmes, and was told that it was not possible to make that call without extensive testing; after much testing Dr. Holmes was proven to be correct. Perfect.... no way, but, he does know his business and I'll take that any day over the rest of the issues.

Hard to understand, talks too fast. He's always in a rush. Needs to be more proactive. I just don't feel like he cares. I'm the one that has to push for things to get done. I don't just want a million prescriptions. Take a minute or two to come up with ideas for prevention.

Waiting for a doctor appointment is not unusual. But I waited 2 hours to see Dr Holmes. Certainly that was the longest wait but I've never waited less than 45 minutes to see him. Additionally, I learned today he won't refill a prescription because "he wants to see" me. LOL! I had an appointment scheduled with him a month ago and he extended his vacation without letting his staff know. I went in and had to see his PA who discussed my blood work with me and REFILLED by prescriptions! Fortunately another doctor accepted my request and I will no longer see the oaf again. He may know his business and be thorough in his care but his goofy manner, slovenly dress and terrible patient facilitating far outweigh his abilities. STAY AWAY!

VERY CARING EVEN AFTER YOU HAVE SEEN HIM.

I took my 85 yr. old father to a f/u appt. after a hospitalization which occured 1 day after seeing Dr. Holmes (his primary care doc). We waited 1hr.and 30 min. to be seen and when the doctor entered the exam room he didn't even make eye contact with my father or myself. I tried to supply info. pertinent to his case and was completely ignored, even talked over by the doctor. I will be finding a new doctor for my mother & father. My mother had told me their doctor didn't listen to them and mumbled when he talked to them, I have found this to be true. Elderly patients also deserve respect, but are sometimes at the mercy of uncaring doctors such as this one. We as family members need to be advocates for our aging parents. As an RN, I was disgusted to see this behavior from a member of the health care community to which I belong.

Trustworthy, caring, intelligent. Literally trust him with my life and the lives of all my family members who are his patients, too.
