Dr. William Alvin Mcelveen, MD

No one ever answers the phone -- they have prompts so you have to leave a message. Nurses are good about calling back, but the scheduler never calls back. Doctor comes in and reviews all his computer notes, does some in-office testing and that is it. I have had to say -- wait I have questions. Got a copy of his notes and they were incorrect. I am not even certain I have the correct diagnosis. Saw this doctor 3 times. When I called to schedule another appointment, I was told he retired -- no notification whatsoever.

This doctor misdiagnosed me with MS!!! Not kidding. He does not know what he is doing and has zero personality. Just an awful office. It's impossible to get through to the office. If you leave a message, they don't call you back. Extremely disorganized. This doctor almost ruined my life.

My husband was admitted to the hospital for memory loss. All tests in the ER were negative. He was admitted for an MRI the next morning--Sunday. McElveen never came to see him. The MRI results were negative and McElveen told the hospital staff he could not be released until he saw my husband. Several hours later, my husband called him to see when he would be there. We had never seen this doctor before. My husband said "I am a patient in the hospital waiting to see you." McElveen rudely said "I'll be there when I get there. I'm covering 2 hospitals." He hung up immediately. No goodbye, no pause to hear my husband's response. I'm been studying health care quality for 20 years and for 10 years before that was a hospital VP. I've never seen or heard of such unconscionable behavior.

Dr McKelveen is an excellent dr but has lost sight of the patient as a person. MS is a frustrating disease...patients don't need to be treated like an assembly line...

I had an emergency regarding a seizures (number and changes in them and after effects) I left 2 messages with his nurse, but she never called me back. I called for an appointment but the next available was 2 1/2 months away! I called GP, who got me as anew patient at a new practice in 2 weeks. I have made the decision to drop Dr. McElveen as my doctor.

I had appointments with this elusive doctor on three occasions. My last appointment I was in his office. He didn't show up. That was the end of McElveen

Worst office staff ever experienced. Staff is completely incompetent We have had to do all of there responsibilities since we started going there over 4 years ago. Doctor is extremely nice, professional, thorough and answers all our questions. His nurse is unprofessional, not courteous, incompentent, over booked and has no idea how to do her job and complete responsibilities. Never looks at patient file when making appt to insure all pre appt. work is done. MRI, blood work, verifications, etc. Every year its the same. Wish the doctor would get new office staff, nurse, and receptionist. No help what so ever from staff only doctor McKelvin is the best part of this office. Current patient looking for new neurologist based upon terrible staff.

I've never been so thoroughly happy with any office visit. Dr. Mc Elveen knows is stuff for sure, and is extraordinarily patient. He even went the extra mile of personally searching for the right drug store to call my prescription to.

Cold, distant, non-caring physician. Hwe has absolutely no bedside manner displaying any sense of warmth or intwerest. He belongs at best in a lab.
