Dr. William Howard Megdal, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Megdal for over a decade. His attention to my serious back problem has allowed me to participate in an active life. He is a fine Christian man that I enjoy as a person as well as a physician. His staff is well-trained and very accommodating. I wish all doctors managed their practice as well as Bill Megdal.

I've been seeing Dr. Medgal for several years and am shocked to see negative reviews. He's relieved me of a lot of pain in my neck and lower back (herniations, bone spurs, arthritis in both locations) and his staff at both locations is always on the ball and comforting. I owe my mobility to him, and highly recommend his personal work and his staffs.

I’m sorry so many of the comments on here are negative. I’ve had nothing but positive results with Athens Spine Center and Dr Megdal. The staff are super friendly and compassionate. Dr Megdal works hard to ensure I get the quality of care needed for my ongoing back issues. They always respond back to phone calls in a timely manner. I’ve never had long wait times. Without the care I receive here I would not be able to continue the busy life I have without a lot of pain.

Was referred to Megdal by a friend in 2012 and was happy with his care at first. Over the years the quality of the practice has changed for the worse. Triple booking appointments is standard policy which leaves patients who already in pain waiting for excessive amounts of time in the most uncomfortable chairs ever made. The compassion is long gone and in its place is pure greed. He expects you to have more injections than is healthy and if you don't agree, he talks about reducing your daily meds so that you will go along with the unwanted injection. He barely spends 5-10 minutes with you, if you're lucky. While he and the staff chat about their personal lives in the middle of the back office area, almost every word can be heard by patients in the exam rooms. Staff is ok but too young and inexperienced, including his daughters. If his lifestyle weren't so extravagant he wouldn't need to shove patients who didn't want procedures out the door to make room for higher paying customers. Yes,… they are customers now, not patients. Do yourself a favor and find a practice that respects you, your time and what it takes financially to see a doctor. This is not that place.

Dr. Megdal has helped me considerable with my pain and to avoid surgery. Managing pain is key to quality of life. My lower back pain has been under control for four months and counting. Dr. Megdal is patient and kind and shows genuine concern for his patients. I also should recognize the office staff and other medical professionals who assist patients. They reflect the caring attitude set by the doctors by making patients comfortable.

I suffer from chronic back pain. Dr. Megdal works diligently to help me have some relief. He doesn't give up and keeps me on my feet. I have never had a doctor that is so caring.

A family member had a horrible experience with a back injection. MD didn't explain things during the procedure,little concern for the severe pain experienced after the shot,no bedside manner.

Dr. Megdal has to be one of the best, most caring doctors in Athens! Wish they were all like he is.

My only areas of concern address the length of time it takes to get an appointment even though I am an established patient. If I need to see the doctor before my scheduled return appointment (which may be 3-5 months out), it is almost impossible to see him sooner. This may be a problem with staff's ability to schedule to allow for emergencies. I sincerely hope that this problem will be resolved when his new partner comes in and starts seeing patients because I really like Dr. Megdal and he has been supportive and helpful.
