Dr. William Jeffrey Palmer, MD

If I could leave zero stars I would, this man is an intolerant misogynist who is dismissive towards your concerns and will release a patient from his care if they do not immediately agree with and obey his "treatment plan" which is just an SSRI and antihistimine for sleep. Showing any frustration or disagreement with him will lead to him telling you to just leave. He is a terrible doctor and I suspect overall person. I guess I can be glad that he did all of this rather early into being my daughter's doctor, went to be tested for adhd and left with an antidepressant.

I've been a patient of Dr. Palmer for a year now. He typically sees adolescents but I had just made the cut off at age 25 and he agreed to see me anyways. He helped me go through several different medications for my bipolar disorder and he's always listened when I complained of intolerable side effects. He always asks if I'd rather try a new medication or stay on the one giving me some issues but try an additional medicine to address the side effect in question. He speaks calmly and curtly which i think could very much seem patronizing especially to a teen or their parents. His bedside manner isn't perfect but he has changed my life via proper medications and always listens to my concerns. It is worth it to stick with him and voice your concerns, he happily recommends therapy if he thinks you need it outside of medication.

This Dr saw my kid's and was horrible mean does not listen or believe anything they say and when it comes down to them being put in the hospital he threatens them with if your scared of needles and dont get your blood taken you will stay here in the hospital longer very rude and does not listen to children patients

Let me first start by saying that Dr Palmer was the first psychiatrist we had ever seen. My daughter was suffering from major depression. She had spent 9 days in Methodist hospital. Let me say Dr Palmer was not personable at all. He was not empathetic and his bedside manner was horrible. He did not listen to my daughter and sometimes talked down to her when she was not behaving appropriate for him. She was asked to fill out a questionarre every time she checked in and that Dr Palmer would look at this paper. Let me say he never ever asked to see this from my daughter and let me also say that he is not knowledgable about his medications which is very scary. My daughter was so overly medicated that she could not wake up she was Such a zombie everyday. I knew that this was not normal and this was not my child so I called UAMS and got my daughter on with a psychiatrist there who quickly stated she we way over medicated. The new psychiatrist began tapering my daughter off some medications… and she instantly started becoming the daughter I was new. She is still seen at UAMS and she is doing wonderful she is almost completely off all medications that Dr Palmer once had her on. Please do not trust this man with your child.

Daughter felt he talked fown to her, I would agree. He kept harping about motivation. OK so help us, she clearly isn't motivated probably bc she's dealing with some anxiety/generalized depression.

Dr. Palmer came highly recommended for adolescents. My daughter has been a patient of his for a couple of years now. She has been put on antidepressants finally within the last 8 months. After she didn't like the initial antidepressants, we took her back and he changed her medication. Since that time he has been extremely irritable, argumentative and defiant - much more so than ever before. We took her back to Dr. Palmer who basically told us that "she's almost and adult...", as in, you as parents basically no longer have a say in this matter. He barely even listened when we described the problems w had witnessed since the med change. Then he patronized us for not being more open with our daughter about her medication. We can't even say "you look nice today" without her yelling at us about it and Dr. Palmer had absolutely nothing to say about it except to speak in a condescending manner. If you want a psychiatrist who will listen to both the child, as well as the parent, do… NOT go to Palmer.
