Brusque. Demeaning. Condescending. Wrote up orders for testing wrong, resulting in delays and frustration for a prompt, accurate diagnosis. Had to find another doctor at a critical health time.

It is a common human tendency to resist change. I was with the same carrier, different physician for probably 20 years. Changes within the carrier, co-pay related, caused me to change to Dr Beach at the Amberly location, while resisting the no-choice change, the decision maker was that other family members went to him. Dr Beach was very comfortable to talk to, to work with regarding my medical needs, and to joust with given both of our “advanced ages.” Then Dr Beach retired and entered Dr Sprouse. My guard again went up. I think it was only a matter of weeks that he had been there on my first visit. It was a bit awkward, but he was very attentive to my needs. Given my concussion and other disabilities, he showed appreciation for my “resume” of my conditions. The air opened up on my second and subsequent visits. As mentioned by another reviewer, Dr Sprouse spoke TO me instead of AT me. He took the time to explain WHY he was making certain recommendations, never sounding critical, but… rather caring. I loved his experience in sports injuries as I have a concussion. At no time have I felt rushed. He expressed concern with my cholesterol reading. We waited a bit of time and retook the reading....again not acceptable to him. He recommended what he thought was the BEST choice of treatment for me and WHY. Yes, there were pills out there, other courses of action, but he explained the advantages of Repatha. I told him I was terrified of needles (injected med twice per month) and he smiled and said they would help me with that. I was very concerned over the cost as I am on SS. He ran it by my carrier and we saw what their cost would be...still more than I could afford. My carrier assigned me a resource specialist to connect me, Dr Sprouse, and the manufacturer to work out an acceptable solution. Well, the result is that the manufacturer will absorb the entire cost of the prescription for six months and will assist in an extension if requested by Dr Sprouse. I am so thrilled with the respect, concern, and patience exhibited by Dr Sprouse. And, I must add, his staff is also beyond 5-star.
