Dr. William Z Sun, MD

I attempted to go to Dr. Sun as a new patient. He refused to listen to my symptoms, which I admittedly had trouble explaining because I did not know why I was having eye pain--only when the eye pain occured. Because I could not explain the problem well, he became very rude and condescending. When I told him that he didn't need to be rude, he told me to leave. It doesn't seem that his attitude is unusual, as this type of interaction seemed routine to his receptionist (who is also his wife). I went to Dr. Sun because he is an ophthalmologist (rather than an optometrist) and I wanted to make sure that my eye pain was properly evaluated. However, it became apparent that Dr. Sun didn't want to actually evaluate my issue, but rather just wants to be a better paid eyeglass mill. Based upon his attitude, I have no doubt that he would have just conducted an eye exam and sold me new glasses which may not have actually solved my eye pain.

Was never able to see the doctor. Had the absolute worse secretary/assistant I’ve seen at a medical office. Was showing the doctor as in-network, confirmed by my insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was unwilling to confirm this by looking me up through any system and refused to talk to my insurance. She’s said they only accept VSP or something which wasn’t true. She DID NOT know what she was doing. Waste of my time and yours, avoid.

I just moved to Philly and was in the market for a new eye doctor for my partner and I. Dr. Sun's office was exactly what we were looking for. The receptionist was very friendly and personable, as was Dr Sun(loved his dad jokes). My partner has been wearing and paying a ton for progressives based off what our previous eye doctor suggested, it should be noted it was a doc in a eyeglass store, and Dr Sun told him he never needed progressives and his headaches have gone away since getting new glasses with the RX from Dr. Sun. As for me, I was told I really needed glasses from that same doctor and Dr Sun let me know that I really only need them for eye strain when driving at night or looking at a computer all day. I highly recommend Dr. Sun for anyone looking for someone that knows his stuff and won't upsell you on the latest and greatest.

I had a new pt app with Dr Sun on monday. I had to reschedule 2 times due to insurance issues and asset Maryann was so patient and accomodating. Dr Sun is very professional and very thorough. He was able to diagnose my problem when the last 2 docs that I went to could not .

Excellent doctor.

Dr. Sun is an older man and his patients reflect similar age brackets. He calls his patients by their first names although he is addressed by his sir name.He is highly impatient and dislikes repeating an explanation which he never gave the first time. He will remind you that he is the doctor, not you. This arrogance no longer works among educated patients. He has lost this one.

I've been a client of Dr.Sun's for 20 years plus and as I've become older, my eyesight has not improved. But each time I had eyesight problems, Dr.Sun was able to correctly diagnose the issue and find a solution. First, it was a retina problem & he recommended one of the best retina specialists. A couple of years later it was a cataract, on which he operated perfectly. This past week, it was a secondary cataract and he performed an laser procedure with some high tech machine in the office.I was able to see him on short notice as I think he and his staff (staff is courteous, attentive and efficient) always make room in their schedule for you when it's an emergency. Not only that, the doctor called 24 hrs. later to check on my eyesight and said I should call him the following day to give him an update. I would recommend Dr.Sun to anyone requiring an ophthalmologist.

Dr. Sun has been my ophthalmologist for 5 years. I think most ofhis patients are older, but I went to him because his office is closeto my apartment. I don't have many eye issues (just yearly check-upssince I wear contacts), but whenever I have concerns he's been veryhelpful. He set me up with some contacts that are super convenient(you can sleep in them!). Also, when I had really dry eyes this winterhe gave me a treatment that really helped. Overall, I highlyrecommended him.
