Dr. William Timothy Ward, MD

My daughter had spine surgery and Dr. Ward was Very thorough and explained the surgery in detail. After the surgery he spent time with us explaining the recovery. Excellent surgeon!!

My son was referred to Dr. Ward for a second opinion. Dr. Ward did not even physical exam my child or direct any questions to him. He was in the room for MAYBE five minutes. Said my 7 year old needs to learn self talk so he can handle his back pain. Would not go back to him nor recommend him to anyone else.

My infant daughter had fractured her leg and was seen at children's emergency room. I seen Dr ward in follow up when she got herself out of the cast they provided. She got out of tge cast on saturday was told sn on call doc would get back to me and no one ever did. She only had it on 2 weeks. I spent 30 minutes waiting to see him and once I did he spent 5 minutes interrogating me on what happened. Was very rude and kept interrupting. Didn't bothering taking xrays didn't even look at her leg just told me it's been 3 weeks she should be fine and sent us home. He also told me the cast they put in her was not put on properly what a joke I have no faith in children's anymore

This was our forst visit to Children's and had hopes of helping my son w/his excruciating back pain. He's 10 and should NOT have this pain. Dr. Ward was a waste of my $40 copay. I do not have money to throw around like he apparently does. He has no bedside manner and was extremely rude. He could care less that my son had pain. He would not let us speak, was arrogant, unprofessional, and obviously not very educated on much else that didn't involve a break. UPMC really needs to fire him. We will never be back to Children's, for fear they have hired more doctors like him. Maybe none of them care because they don't have to??? They receive so many patients a day, that they know more will show up, regardless of ratings. Do yourself a favor and run fast from Dr. Ward. The sociopaths have more compassion than this man. I actually was somewhat fearful for our safety being in the same room with him. I absolutely detest behavior like his. I would give negative stars if I could.

Dr. Ward was arrogant and rude to me during my visit. He did not examine me. He did not X-ray (or other scan) me. He did see a poor x-ray image I brought via my old chiropractor. He claimed to know exactly what was wrong with me despite not having examined me or view a decent image. He also concluded that my condition was essentially hopeless and that there was nothing he can do for me. He tried to talk over my head with a lot of medical jargon, that attests to he complete lack of bedside manner or ability to communicate with his customer (i.e. the patient). Not only did he waste my time, but I felt belittled and berated by his attitude and the way he talked down to me. He attempted to make me feel stupid for even asking for his advice/help. Please do not waste your time with the person unless you wish to be humiliated.

Biggest jerk i have ever met. Actually yelled at me because ... I actually dont know, as i never got a word in.

His first comment to me was why am I here. Well I'm here because the ER told me my daughter needed and orthopedic for her ankle. It was clear from the moment my daughter seen him he didn't care about her at all. How sad a pediatric Dr and make a 9 yr old girl so uncomfortable. 6 months later since he seen so reason to follow up, my daughter is still having trouble with her ankle, personally I don't think he should be allowed to practice medicine with anyone especially children if he continues to express a lack of concern or compassion for patients

Very skilled and talented surgeon, bedside manner not great. However, what is more important to you: pleasant conversation or a successful surgery?

I had extensive surgey with Dr. Ward, his bedside manner was terrible, I had to wait 2 hours for a post opp appointment, Finally I left as I was paying for a babysitter at home, I think he took lunch while I was waiting in a room for him. Not only that he did not paint me the clearest picture about the surgery and the recovery time. I was disappointed in his service
