Dr. Windell Henry Murphy, MD

My wife and I have used Dr. Murphy for many years and have since moved out of state. We still travel to Philadelphia to see him. We tried a local eye clinic where we now live which is very fancy and with multiple doctors. I was surprised they didn't have some of the technology Dr. Murphy uses all the time, like a sonogram of the eye. Compared to other ophthamologists, Dr. Murphy is very caring, he provides understandable explanations, he spends a lot of time with you, and he folllows up by phone as necessary. Yes, there is a long wait in his office - sometimes over an hour. He is the only doctor in the office and inevitably falls behind schedule. But you have to weigh what is really important - how much time you spend in the waiting room, or the quality of care you get. For us, the quality of care from Dr. Murphy is first rate and is far better than at other clinics where you are made to fell part of an assembly line.

This is the worst establishment I have ever come in contact with. From the people at the front desk unprofessionalism up until seeing the doctor I have never in my life experience such disrespect of a person time. You should be put out of business for taking advantage of Medicare people. Why have a schedule appointment of u have the patients wait over 4 hours until being seen for 15 minutes. No there was no concern if my mother had eating anything however I did see that your staff ate. There was no communication stating that the appointment would be running late. No there was not a concern when my mother told the do it about the amount of time she waited to be seen. I will be making a complaint ever day on multiple websites associated with ur practice so anyone wanting to give you service will be warned of your agenda. This is just ridiculous as a medical profession you should be stripped of practicing.

Due to geographical reasons, I have not seen Dr Murphy in quite some time. This is really unfortunate as he is, hands down, one of the best physicians that I have had the privilege of meeting. He is a genuinely caring and compassionate gentleman, an astute diagnostician and a gifted healer. Having dealt with chronic eye problems and many physicians over the years plus being a registered nurse, I can state unequivocally that Dr Murphy is one of the kindest and most responsive doctors I have met. I could (and many times did), call him with an eye problem and no matter how busy he was, he always immediately made room on his schedule for me. I will always be very grateful. Now if he could just open an office in Northeast Philadelphia, I could continue to be treated by Dr Murphy!
