Dr. Winshih S Chang, MD

Had rotator cuff surgery on the left shoulder in the spring of 2012. Had a minimum of pain post-op, and using his exercise plan had full use and range of motion on that shoulder within three months. When I had problems with my right shoulder in the spring of 2014, went back to Dr. Chang and he operated on it. Same result - minimum pain post-op and full recovery within three months. I have listened to friends and acquaintances who have had rotator surgery, and the tales of pain and loonnngggg difficult recoveries are numerous. When I speak of my experiences, they are amazed. I just recommended Dr. Chang to my son-in-law.

I rated Change 1 star only because there was no option to rate "negative stars". Chang is probably the worse doctor I've had the displeasure of meeting. In the middle of describing my symptoms, Chang simply turns and starts to walk out of the room. When I explain that I think it would be important that he hear all of what transpired before I threw out my back he replies sarcastically, "fine, I'll sit and hear the rest of your saga". Are you freaking kidding me!?!?!? Maybe Chang should seek another line of work if he doesn't want to take the time to, at the very least, listen to what his patients are saying about their symptoms. Other than the x-ray technician (who was very nice), the rest of the group acted as though they were doing you a favor by scheduling you or even seeing you.

Wonderful doctor. Wouldn't be able to walk or be pain free without him.

Dr. Chang should not be allowed to practice medicine. No matter how serious is your injury, he would not give you a prescription for MRI (till you visit him 3 times and pay consultation fee 3 times). No sense of urgency to help and treat patient. He will drag on so he can make more money. My daughter had a torn ligament in her leg, this doctor kept insisting on follow up appointments with giving a prescription for MRI. Finally he gave prescription after 3 months. Still untreated high-tear ligament that resulted in reactive edema was not a serious condition. After 3 months of pain, I took my daughter to another doctor. Do not bother visiting/consulting him. You will be wasting your time, money and prolonging your misery, if you visit Dr. Chang.

My husband had blood clots as a result from this surgery. We were not informed of the severity of the surgery nor the consequenses that resulted from the blood clots that have damanaged his heart and lungs. I hold him responsible for lack of communication and brushing off our concerns before and after surgery.

Dr. Chang is an excellent orthopedaic. I had bilateral knee replacements done and thanks to him and his staff, I walked without the assistance of a walker or cane within two months. He's a champ!!!!!!!!

Dr. Chang is an amazingly smart guy and an incredibly good surgeon. He often appears hurried, but he does listen. He's not the warm, fuzzy type, but I'm willing to sacrifice that to get the kind of care and competence he provides.
