Dr Wolfgang Fitz, MD

I was happy to have Dr. Fitz replace (TKR) my left knee in 2014 and, when my right knee required the same, to be able to have it done last December. Now at the three month mark, I deem the right knee healthy and fully working. After the success with the left knee, I would not have dreamed of going to another surgeon for the right TKR. I also can't say enough good things about PA Kelly DiLoffi and the entire team. This is a well-run, very professional and caring team. A feature of Dr. Fitz's approach that stands out especially for me is the thoroughness of the pre- and post-surgery care. I was so well-prepared for the surgery itself, through the prescribed strength and flexibility training, and the post-surgery at-home conditioning, that out-patient rehab was not necessary. And it was essentially painless. What's not to love about that? As you can tell, I cannot recommend Dr. Fitz highly enough.

Despite being very active I had struggled with Osteoarthritis for many years. Surgery when I was younger had left my knee bone on bone and as I grew older began to limit my physical activities. Cortisone injections had gotten to a point of only providing brief relief. Dr. Fitz came highly recommended him to me by two close friends who had TKR performed by him previously. During my appointment with Dr, Fitz he examined my knee and went over all the options with me. I felt comfortable with Dr. Fitz and was to the point where I was ready for the surgery. The less invasive surgery procedure using implants made specifically for my knee seemed like an easier recovery. His Physician’s Assistant, Kelly Diloffi, was great preparing me for the procedure and answering all my questions both pre-surgery and post-surgery. The procedure was very manageable and not as painful as I expected. The nurses and staff at the Faulkner were also excellent. Other than the first two weeks post-operation… the recovery wasn’t very tough. Having my wife as my coach and assisting through recovery made all the difference, especially managing medications. I did all the prehab exercises, the post-surgery exercises, and the PT with no issues. The overall recovery for me was fast as I was out to dinner two weeks later and back to work and back in the gym before I knew it. I’m almost three months out of surgery and, although I still have more recovery ahead of me, I am back to doing most of my normal activities. I am totally satisfied with procedure and the recovery at this point. Everything seemed to go generally as explained. I would highly recommend Dr. Fitz to anyone that needs a knee replacement and hopes to remain active.

Dr. Fitz replaced both my knees within a ten month time frame. I had a wonderful experience and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Both times I was able to go home the same day as the surgery. I had very little pain. I am now back to walking and exercising. Dr. Fitz and his team are the best!

I had bilateral total knee replacements, 1 year apart. Dr Fitz is very skilled, thorough, competent and kind. His support team is comprised of experienced professionals, who are also skilled, competent, thorough and kind. The fact that his team is so respectful of Dr. Fitz speaks volumes about the quality of his work and his care. I highly recommend him, and highly recommend the customized Conformis knee. Dr. Fitz was one of the developers of this type of knee. With it, I have had very successful recoveries. And compared to friends who have had the one-size-fits-all type of knee, I have had less pain and easier recoveries.

Dr. Fitz performed bilateral knee replacements on me five months apart. Although most of my contact with him was virtual, his expertise and confident demeanor calmed my nerves and I felt in good hands at all times. I'd done my research -- actually my wife did -- and I knew he has one of the lowest complication rates in Boston. That is huge, to know your care will be skilled and competent. Although having two knee replacements is a fraught experience because it's not an easy surgery, I think my experience was about as smooth as it could have been, from the surgeon, to his staff and also Brigham Faulkner. I was able to go home the same day for both surgeries and the pain was manageable. Thank you, Dr. Fitz!

I just did a review, so where did it go?

In 2014 Dr Fitz replaced my right knee. In 2017 he replaced my wife’s left knee, and this January he replaced my left knee. All of the surgeries were performed meticulously and successfully! If my wife or I needed additional surgery in his field we would certainly see Dr Fitz.
