Dr. Yanan Shang, MD

My annual appointment with primary care physician was on February 13, 2024. Apparently all is/was good. I met with doctor Shang 4/8/24, hoping to obtain dementia related medication. Looking at specific precautionary bodily symptoms, she determined I have Bradycardia, and concluded my heart was not strong enough to take the dementia med's. While I did not get what I hoped for, I received a new important diagnosis. Thank you Doctor Shang.

I found Dr Shang to be dismissive and judgemental. She made little effort to understand my concerns and seemed more interested in ending the appointment than helping. For someone working in a field related to mental health, with patients discussing symptoms that may seem scary or strange, that’s disappointing.

Dr. Shang made little effort to learn about my condition. She did. It read emails thoroughly and made uninformed suggestions.

Waited an hour to be seen. She did not ask many questions, only had me take 4 steps to check my balance, etc. She informed me that she was going to order an MRI then a spinal tap if it was clean but would not tell me what she was looking for or why. When I found out what exactly was ordered for the mri, i called to inquire how it related to my symptom concerns and why, she did not return the call but instead had her nurse call to say it was her way or the highway. Would not recommend her to another, not going back.
