Dr. Yi Zheng, MD

I was terrified to have the procedure due to previous poor experience coming out of anesthesia in another GI office. Dr. Zheng and the entire staff treated me with respect and patience. No one yelled at me for being "slow to come out of anesthesia" (yes, that happened at another GI office) and they made sure I was steady and comfortable before they let me leave. The entire experience was as good as an endoscopy/colonoscopy experience could be (I have had a few)

Appreciated the opportunity of a medical teleconference with Dr. Zheng. The visit accomplished all that was intended.

Dr. Zheng is very efficient and responsive And so is her staff.

I have been going to Dr. Zheng for 7 years now. Appointment making is pretty straight forward and you receive numerous reminders. She is very straight forward and lays out recommendations in full detail. Surgery center that she uses (Danville) is extremely efficient.

I very much appreciate having Dr. Zheng for my gastroenterologist. She is very knowledgeable thoughtful., and kind. She takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. Her office staff is very easy to work with.

My experience with Dr. Yi Zheng was very disappointing. Appointments were always late and often felt rushed. Every appointment was late, including my first visit. (more than 30 minutes late with no apology) Follow-up care was also lacking. My ultrasound results (which included medical terms I did not fully understand) were posted on the patient portal by the ultrasound provider, but Dr. Yi Zheng did not add any explanation, comments, or follow-up to help interpret the results. My endoscopy appointment was also delayed, and afterward I was not given an explanation of what was done or any immediate post-procedure discussion. Another phone appointment was automatically scheduled without discussing it with me first, and again the doctor joined the call more than 30 minutes late. The conversation lasted only a few minutes and felt rushed. In contrast, my previous gastroenterologist would speak with me before and after procedures and provide results directly through the patient portal,… without needing additional billing phone visits for basic follow-up. Communication through the Tebra patient portal was also an issue, as I did not receive a response when I requested assistance and asked about changing a provider for a gastric emptying study. When I contacted the office, staff were unable to confirm whether messages are regularly reviewed by the doctor. Overall, this was one of the most unsatisfactory experiences I have had with a medical provider in terms of communication, follow-through, and coordination of care. I would not recommend this provider.

Don't bother. Don't waste your time. I got a referral to her practice in Walnut Creek. I waited for months trying to get referral to a female doctor from my primary. After 2 months of waiting to speak to my primary doctor, she referred me to this Dr. I had to wait another month to get an appointment with Dr. Yi Zheng. Text messages look unprofessional like a spam but their phone clerks are polite but seem clueless and they took my payment over the phone. I paid my copay for $30. I waited 30 minutes on the phone appointment for her to call me back after payment, I took a quick nap, after 35 minutes of waiting for her to call me after paying, she finally calls me. We spoke for about less than 3 minutes for the entire phone appointment to tell me that she is not accepting new patients. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. SHE IS RUDE. SHE SAID I NEVER WORKED WITH YOUR DOCTOR, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. ALL I KNOW IS SHE WANTED ME TO ONLY ORDER A SCAN FOR YOUR LIVER, I DON'T GIVE SECOND OPINIONS. I… said I was actuallt looking for a female doctor within my network so I will feel more comfortable, she dismissid that saying I'm not accepting new patients... so why was I referred to you?! She said she doesn't know. As a doctor, all she can do for me is order a liver scan. IF YOU ARE NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS AND IF YOU ARE A SPECIALIST DOCTOR, YOU SHOULD TELL THAT TO US RIGHT AWAY BEFORE TAKING MY COPAY. SHE SAID SHE WILL ORDER MY SCAN TO SEND BACK TO MY PRIMARY DOCTOR WHO IS NOT A SPECIALIST!!! WHAT IS MY PRIMARY DOCTOR GOING TO DO WITH THE LIVER SCANS WHEN SHE SENT ME TO YOU!!! YOU SHOULD TELL PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS FROM NORTHBAY HOSPITAL!!! YOU WASTED MY MONEY AND MY TIME. DON'T TAKE $30 COPAY TO TELL ME YOU ARE NOT ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS!!!

Dr. Zheng is very efficient and get to the point and her staff is excellent. One of the best things I see is that they send out text messages to remind you of the appointments and very accessible and responsive.

If your Primary Care Physician gives you a referral to this doctor, do yourself a favor and request someone else. She is negative, judgmental, has no bedside manner, and greedy. I had to pay a copay on the first visit (as expected), and she spent 20 minutes with me and her back to me the whole time, while she fired off questions and stayed focused on her computer screen, except for when I said "At least I'm not diabetic" (A1C is 5.9) to which she turned around and said "Not yet!" What kind of medical professional says that? Next visit is for a scan, with another copay (as expected), and I didn't even see her (just a tech). Two days later, her staff calls to say she'll have to call me back to give me my results (but not until after I pay another copay). She calls back 45 minutes later, and spends 10 minutes on the phone to explain my test results (because I paid the copay). I have NEVER had to pay a copay to any doctor, just to hear my results over the phone so that she can bill my… insurance $500 (or more) as an office visit (not just a phone call). She is clearly greedy, unethical and only in it for the money with no care or regard for her patients. In my opinion, she should have chosen a different career path, perhaps in medical billing, since that seems to be her true specialty. Her office staff is inept too. AVOID this doctor and her office at all costs! Horrible!
