Dr. Yili Zhou, MD

Please understand I have never written a review on services provided by a health care professional, however, our recent experience with this Dr. Zhou warrants such action. My Wife has suffered from Fibromyalgia for years, and in 2010 experienced two strokes. She constantly battles pain, yet is hesitate to accept and take prescribed pain medication. Tylenol's only. She recently sprained her back w/ pain now radiating down to her feet. After local visits to the Ocala pain management physicians, Dr. Zhou was recommended for an injection to provide temporary pain alleviation. My Wife and I drive down to his office in Lady Lake for the initial consultation, and an appointment is made to receive his treatment. A week later we arrive, check in, and learn the appointment was for the following week. Our bad, however, the office staff (and doctor) were very accommodating and agreed to see her. Three hours later we were called in. Two minutes later my Wife hastily leaves his exam… room and greats me in the lobby, visually upset. No treatment. She was so disturbed I wasn't able to receive an explanation on what may have occurred. As we prepare to exit the building, Dr. Zhou comes out and requests we meet with him privately. Back to the exam room we sit and his one question to my Wife is "How long ago was it you received pain shots". Because of my Wife's previous strokes, naturally her recollection of time, dates and events are vague. With a pause she responds "several years ago - I can't remember exactly when". Apparently this answer wasn't satisfactory to Dr. Zhou. His demeanor immediately changed and he recommends we see his colleague back at the Pain Management Center in Ocala for treatment. What? I'm thinking why this Doctor hasn't read her file to learn we've come from that pain center. His next comment then blew me away, and is one I shall never forget. He states "well, Mrs. ____ , just like Patients can select their Physicians, Physicians also have the right to select their Patients - I choose not to help you. Your file we be at the front desk and there's no charge." My Wife and I were floored by this statement, in fact, cannot ever recall getting kicked out of a doctors office. So, there's our experience with this Dr. Zhou. Other's whom negatively commented on his manners, patience, understanding and overall professionalism are RIGHT ON TARGET! I wouldn't let this guy place a Band-Aid on me. I also hear he's possibly relocating to California. Good riddance! Please be cautious on your selection of physicians and take credence that these reviews are often accurate and aren't submitted by kooks. In fact, my Wife and I are both retired state professional's just trying to receive quality health care.

Been using this doctor for 2 years after previous one moved north. I need spinal injections and SI joint injections and need someone really technically skilled. Done incorrectly or placing the needle incorrectly can result in terrible pain during the procedure. Never once had a problem with Dr. Zhou. I am shocked by the negative reviews. I have seen none of what some of these allege. He was highly recommended by my orthopedist and I can only concur with his high recommendation.

My husband I are patients of Dr. Zhou and have seen him for low back pain issues. My husband had seen him several times prior to my initial visit, and while skeptical at the thought of going, Dr. Zhou alleviated my fears and concern. I found him to be very personable, kind, and took a genuine interest in my problem. He was conservative with my first injection, and I saw him again today for a little more aggressive procedure. He put me at ease during both visits, and I would highly recommend him as a pain management physician! His staff is also very kind and friendly, clean office and prompt with appointments times.

Dr.ZHOU HAS EASED MY PAIN BY 90 PERCENT. AFTER SUFFERING FOR EIGHT YRS. I READ THE REVIEWS ABOUT HIM AND DECIDED TO JUDGE FOR MYSELF. SO GLAD. I DIDN'T ENCOUNTER ONE THING BAD THAT SOME PEOPLE WROTE ABOUT HIM. HIS STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY IT WAS CLEAN AND DR.ZHOU WAS ONE OF THE NICEEST I HAVE BEEN TO. HE TOLD ME WHAT MY BEST OPTION AND WENT FRON THERE.THE NEXT DAY I FELT BETTER THAN I HAVE IN YEARS.HE DIDN'T FILL BE WITH PILLS, INSTEAD HE GAVE ME A INJECTION SO I CAN LIVE A PAIN FREE LIFE. BE YOUR OWN JUDGE, SOME PEOPLE HAVE AN AXE TO GRIND IF THEY DON'T GET WHAT THEY WANT.THANK YOU AND YOUR NICE STAFF DR. ZHOU.

I went to Dr. Zhou for help with my cronic pain. He was rude, raised his voice, and just acted unlike any Dr. I have ever seen. Childlike. Do yourself a favor. Read doctor reviews. There are many other doctors that will at least treat you with dignity. Go elsewhere.

He was not a good listener. He was condescending and rue when he did say something. Its not a culture issue he has problems with IT is him and his lousy personality. His staff seemed nice enough. He made it sound my MRI didnt qualify me for pain management. I never got my call back for an injection. I really didnt want it. I wanted to return to my pain med but with a really low dose. I dont want my bones to go brittle from numerous inections. I am eating motrin and have other medical issues that I should not be taking these, Need to find another good Dr I like I had in West Palm. he was great

Gives out more pills than treatment, then says that you are an addict after all the pills he gives out.....read about his bad reviews before I went....wanted to see if they were correct and they were. Foolish me, next time a true American doctor from now on.

He will lie to your face. He thinks he is a God because he went to Harvard for a year or two. He choses to ignore the warning given by the drug manufacturer and use the drug anyway causing months of pain worse than you originally go in for, he doesn't care about you as a person.. NEVER LET HIM USE KENALOG IN AN EPIDURAL!!!!!!!. Find another pain specialist.

My doctor set up a referral for this office, right from the start information was incorrect .I hand delivered my medical records with multiple m.r.i. reports ( cervical,thoracic, lumbar ) each one with issues next day they informed m e with no explanation that they will not be comfortable excepting me .Now if I have multiple herniated disc's with nerv damage .been in pain management for over ten years now I know it's a long time but what choice have I got ? Technology has not caught up with this procedure ? Haven't met one person yet who can give good review on procedure ? I would love to get on with my life .. This Doctor must not be qualified to do so. if this doesn't qualify for treatment then i would really like to have a explanation as to what does ? The state of Florida and multiple professionals do .

I have been going to this quack for 6 years because he was close in Lake City .he gave me numerous epidurals ,way to many for your body .All those steroids have made my bones thin and easy to break .He is a quack ,constantly changes the P.A.s which are the only ones you will see unless you need an injection .The place is filthy ,the water coolers empty or no cups to drink out of .I had told him numerous times I wanted to get off these heavy narcotics ,he said it was to dangerous ,so guess what ? I am now avn opiod addict and the meds dont even come close to helping anymore .Luckily I was so desperate to get of these meds I was ready to admit myself into a rehap center but someone told me to try a pain Dr.in Gainesville .He has done more in 3visits than Zhou has done in 6 years .He is trying to get me of these drugs and has numerous plans to get my pain to the manageable point .Go to Dr. Zhou and you will end up a drug addict from which you might never get out of the grips they have on… you .I thought like many ,that a Harvard educated Dr. Must be good ,but all he wants is ,hook you ,so you have to come back every month for more and higher doses to fill his pockets .Please people dont go there ,try someone in Gainesville .
