Dr. Young Joon You, MD

Dr You is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. He takes the time to explain the problem and the options available to correct the problem.

Although he was busy that day, I found him to be very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. He did a thorough review of my X-rays explaining our plan for recovery and follow up.

He seems like a good doctor from a medical perspective, but this man straight up answered a phone call during my appointment. Phone rang in the middle of the appointment, during our conversation he picked it talked to someone stepped out for about a minute and then returned. You just dont do that, even if its a family member. You call them back after. He also seemed really overwhelmed with patients like he was too busy for me at some points.

Dr. You is very knowledgeable and professional. I appreciate that he only recommends knee replacement surgery as a last resort and will continue with cortisone injections as long as possible. Although my visit concerned my knees, he took a moment to examine my swollen foot and diagnosed it as tendonitis.

I recently had other surgery for a medical tear and arthritis. My experience with OrthoVa was very positive. From the front desk to the assistants. I actually like that Dr. You was at 2 convenient locations which means I could see him of necessary. The surgical procedure was a breeze!! I knew what to expect and I'm healing nicely.

A previous doctor had misdiagnosed my torn meniscus as a simple knee spur and asked me to use ice and Advil. Later when the pain wasn’t controllable I saw Dr. You. He realized I had a serious situation and sent me for an immediate MRI, then after reviewing the results he determined that a cleaning surgery was needed as soon as possible. He did an excellent job on the surgery and gave me clear guidance through the recovery process. I am so thankful that I met Dr. Young You and that he is my caregiver. He is so kind and understanding and explains everything clearly. He makes sure I have needed medicines and explains that for medicines with possible side effects for overuse I should take them on an as needed basis. He and the staff at OrthoVirginia are always kind, respectful and considerate, and are mindful of patients’ time. I *highly recommend* Dr. You.

He is highly professional yet he has a sense of humor that helps when you’re dealing with pain. He cares about his patients needs verses wants. He knows his profession well. Can’t ask for any better.
