Dr. Yvette Marie Janvier, MD

My son went in to see this doctor a few months ago. She did not listen to me or my concerns and treated my son as though there was something wrong with him. She kept making inappropriate side comments regarding my son and his development. I am posting this review now because since this I have seen another developmental pediatrician for my son and have seen how completely unsympathetic Dr Yvette Janvier is. She should not be working with children -- this has simply become a job for her and appears to have lost the caring side of being a doctor.

We had an appt with Dr. Janvier yesterday and she diagnosed our son with ASD. It wasn't a shock to us at all because my husband and I are both licensed behavior specialists. She spent a good amount of time, listened to our concerns and even told us that he would have passed if she did not keep testing him. She was concerned and recommended OT, speech, developmental instruction, and even BHRS services. Highly recommend Dr. Janvier!

I just ran across an article focusing on the relationship of GI issues and autism. I have two children who do NOT have those issues. Dr. Janvier has helped both of them to improve through ABA and other therapies to the point where one is no longer in any Autistic classes and the other is completely mainstreamed. She even attended an IEP meeting to help get my child into a more appropriate classroom setting. I love her and would recommend her to any parent of a child with Autism.

Any children's specialist, especially a developmental pediatrician is hard to get an appointment with in our area, simply because there is more demand for the service than there are available clinicians. I called 8 different places, the wait was the same everywhere. Registration was smooth at this office and they had a place for the kids to play while waiting, which had an adult (employee? volunteer?) supervising. She ran about 25-30 minutes behind on our appointment, but it was understandable when our appointment took 1 hour and 45 minutes with just her. Never once did she look at the clock or make us felt rushed. She didn't let us leave until she knew she answered all of our questions. We received our written report in a matter of days, though she said it could take up to two weeks.We brought our survey in ourselves and also some other information that was filled out by my daughter's teachers (connor rating scale, report cards) since I felt the information would be helpful- it turned… out to be invaluable and I'm suprised that they don't recommend patients to do as much before an appointment. Dr. Janvier spent time talking with us in depth about our concerns, as well as time observing/assessing our daughter. The majority of her assessment, though is based on the surveys, teacher reports, history from us, and supported by her observations. I work in healthcare, so this made sense to me. Her time directly with our daughter was brief, but she is a 6 year old with attention issues, so it's not like she would cooperate w/ an hour of testing anyway. I felt our diagnoses (we have 2) were accurate, she explained her rationale, and was very agreeable with us, given the services we are getting through school, to hold off on medication for the time being. She was very direct with the diagnosis, but I think many parents need to hear it in a straighforward way so they can start shaking out of their denial and start coming up with a plan. We are, of course, wait listed for a social skills group. I'm sure we will wait awhile, but so it goes in pediatrics. Loved this doc overall. Would recommend her to anyone! (And working with lots of doctors every day, I'm quite a pain when it comes to such things)

This so called doctor and the childrens specialized hospital should be shut down for not caring truely about there patients. Here are reasons why. 1 I filled out a servey about 300 questions for my daughter and made an appointment when I got there my appointment was never made and my survey was lost. Then I saw this fool and she spent 15 minutes with myself, my wife, and daughter. She looks at us and with a smirk says I have bad news for you, your daughter is autistic. For people who dont know the cure for the disease they sure know how to get your insurance information in a heartbeat. 7 months later I am still on a waiting list for OT even though I told them we are open to any time. Do not use this beast she is a child eating monster who loves seeing kids in despare.I hope she looses her right to medicate people she is scum save yourself from misery and get a dotor that dosent eat flesh.
