Dr. Yvonne Delasniev Vargas, MD

Dr. Vargas was a new doctor at the practice my parents have been going to for over 30 years. She seemed very nice, and it was really easy to talk to her. I was also pleased that she was a gynecologist, so convenient. I went in for my well women appointment with her, and never heard anything back. A couple months later, I learned that she was no longer with the practice (how INconvenient). After searching for a few months, I found a doctor in the same practice who was accepting new patients (yay!). I saw her a year after I had seen Dr. Vargas. As my new MD is reviewing my info in the system, she asks about my HPV. "My WHAT??" was my response. I'm not sure exactly what else the note in the computer said (I had lost focus in our conversation after my MD said that), something about a glitch in the computer, that I needed to come back in and re-do my pap. I was NEVER contacted about any of this. Luckily, the new MD (Dr. Mewis - she's great), whipped out the stirrups and did a pap right then… and there. Luckily, everything worked out and my HPV hasn't given me cancer - yet. But I can't help but think what would've happened if the HPV was cancerous and had gone untreated for a year thanks to poor patient follow up from Dr. Vargas.
