Dr. Zarah-Ann A Alba, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Alba for many years (7 maybe) and I've finally had it. She is not really interested in solving problems, only in keeping costs low. So few primary care physicians were accepting new patients, she was all I could get, but I hope conditions are better now. I now realize the problem is not IU Health policies, but her own refusal to make referrals. I've had two recent cases this year in which she sought unnecessary, cheaper, options for a condition (for example, arthritis) but other care givers said I clearly had justification for a direct referral. She is rarely up-to-date on my history, despite the fact my health is good, so there's not much to be up-to-date on. Even on follow-ups, she doesn't seem to know why I'm there. She also asks relatively generic/uninformed questions.

after my doctor retired I chose dr. Alba, but had stressfull experience and will look for changing doctor. She did not explained clearly her plan to stop prescribe anxiety meds abruptly ..I was in shock and had to make appointment to explain to her my needs. It cost me $160 !! Visit just to fix her mistake! I do not feel like patient interest is on her mind. It looks like she just want to follow her own best interest.

I do not recommend this doctor. I had a new patient appoint with her and had a horrible experience. She introduced herself and looked at the FMLA papers I was wanted her to renew (which my NP has been filling out for years for stress and anxiety) she said she would not fill them out and that she would refer me to a psychiatrist. This is without ever meeting me or reviewing my health history. I was really offended. if You have anxiety don’t see her. She has no compassion. She saw me for about a half hour and didn’t refill and of my meds. She didn’t even listen to me. She left the room and never sent a nurse in so I left. I hope no one ever has an experience like this.
