Dr. Zhu-Ping Zhou, MD

There is an extreme lack of responsibility and accountability in this medical office. If you have parents or grandparents who are patients of this doctor, I implore you to help them seek medical care elsewhere. Appointments don’t matter in this office. If you are seeing this doctor, you will most likely be waiting at least half an hour (on a good day) to see the doctor for five minutes. They overbook patients and allow walk-ins. They are taking advantage of elderly patients who cannot speak for themselves and have them come in for the most ridiculous reasons. For example, my parents have been asked to come in and check in for an appointment just to get paperwork signed. Even if I ask them to email or fax it to me instead, they push back and say my parents have to go in. When I ask why they need to physically pick it up, they aren’t able to give a reason and that’s when their attitude comes out. The real reason is that they want patients to sign in so they can bill them for an office… visit, even if it’s for a paper they forgot to have signed during an appointment a week prior. The front-desk staff is extremely rude and unwilling to help. My elderly dad was prescribed a wheelchair due to mobility issues. He was given a piece of paper from a prescription pad with the word “wheelchair” written on it. The pharmacy obviously requested more information via fax to the doctor’s office and was very clear about what the insurance would need to approve the request. Over the span of two weeks, the pharmacy faxed the request four times, but somehow the doctor’s office “never got it,” even after insisting their fax machine was working. I asked two different people at the doctor’s office to contact the pharmacy themselves to get the information, and both agreed. The pharmacy was never called. When I called to ask about it, they pretended they had no idea what I was talking about. After two weeks of calling the doctor’s office, someone finally retrieved the fax, stating that it had been received two weeks earlier. At that point, they said they would take care of it. They lied. A couple of days later, they called my parents asking my mom to come in to help fill out the required information. As their daughter, I questioned this request because they had prescribed the wheelchair weeks ago and should already have all the necessary information. My mom went to the doctor and came back with a scribbled note saying, “Patient need cane while talking the stairs.” After a month of back-and-forth and making my mom travel to the office, this is all they were able to provide? For context, the fax clearly states that the criteria must be documented within an office visit note and must include very specific reasoning. At this point, I know the pharmacy and insurance will reject this order immediately. The doctor didn’t even sign the fax. PLEASE STAY AWAY.

Dr. Zhou has been my primary doctor for about 15 years. He is an excellent diagnostician and has helped spot several potential health issues - and always sent me to the right specialists, or therapy, when needed. He is great with follow up care and always takes time to listen and explain.

I first met Dr. Zhou in 2003. From the time I called his office after having relocated to Flushing, I could find no other doctor available at a time I needed treatment. When I explained this to his nurse, she said to come in immediately. When I arrived Dr. Zhou was waiting. Over the years, I have come to respect, trust and put faith in a doctor who puts his patients first. Dr. Zhou is definitely a keeper.
