Pre-op was excellent! Post-op was not a good experience. I have worked in hospital systems for over 30 years and am very much aware of patient care issues. I became conscious in recovery due to severe shivers. A nurse put a warm blanket around my head and told me my contact had been called, asking me if I was ready to go. I hadn't even opened my eyes yet! I said no and she asked how much more time I would need. I said 30 min. She offered me water and I said no. I had to figure out for myself that I was in recovery and the procedure was done. I thought I was still in pre-op waiting to go in. No nurse called me by name, asked me to open my eyes and look at them, or attempted to orient me. No one told me I was in recovery and how long I had been there. No one reassured me that the shivers would eventually pass. Next I knew they were dressing me in the bed. I have never before had anyone dress me post op without having me sit on the side of the bed or be able to stand and… dress myself. They were rushing me! I felt as if it was my fault for not being conscious fast enough for them or I was doing something wrong for not waking up! I eventually stood and put on my shoes. They rolled me outside and asked if I saw my ride. I said no. So they rolled me back into a hallway as they were asking me to call my ride. I had to ask for a drink and some crackers. My eyes were still barely open and I was still feeling sedated. I am very unhappy as to how I was given the rush. I asked how long I had been in there and told 1.5 hours. I guess that's their internal max limit! Terrible patient care and customer service getting raced out the door. I was unsteady on my feet entering my home and at risk. If I ever have a choice in the future, depending on my physician, I would not use this surgicare center in the future because of this post-op recover experience. They do not allow any family or friends in recovery, and no wonder why!
