I would never go here again. 3 warnings for potential patients. (1) Screening colonoscopies are supposed to be covered at 100% under the ACA (this also applies to your employer based plan), but be aware that some unprofessional facilities will stick it to you by concealing the fact that they utilize contract personnel, in this case, some outfit called Amsurg which provides anesthetists ($200 bill). I knew this contractor bait-and-switch was a common practice in other scenarios but did not imagine patients would get shafted like this for a procedure which is covered at 100% under Federal Law. Live and learn that you cannot trust hospitals and provider offices to be transparent or forthcoming with info under any circumstances when it comes to costs. You must ask every single time who you will be seeing and who they work for, because you will need to look up every single person you will have contact with in your insurance plan. Providers conceal this information because they don't want to… lose your busine$$. (2) Good luck communicating with this facility. I got nothing from them. I finally called the morning before my procedure to make sure I was still on the schedule, at which point the admin informed me that my instructions were in My Chart but - big oops - somehow their facility among all other offices at UC Health fails to auto-generate emails to inform you that you have a message in My Chart. The letter itself was full of errors. After my procedure I made a complaint to the patient advocate, Karen. (3) Please be informed that there is a 2-pill prep available instead of the hideous liquid prep. But guess what? It is not your choice as a patient what kind of prep you get. It's the doctor's choice. So I highly recommend that you find a physician who will prescribe the pill prep. I will end my review with the same thing I told the patient advocate: University Endoscopy is a s-stain (pun intended) on UC Health.
