Dr. John Jay Perry, MD

Dr Perry is the best orthopedic surgeon in the area, I should know because I worked as an administrator in three different physical therapy businesses over the past 20 years. Dr Perry performed knee surgeries on both of knees of knees and they both have been absolutely perfect for the past 6 years. I don’t hesitate to recommend his services to family and friends. If you want to listen to him talk and then leave the room, this is the guy for you. I obviously had questions; I had a notepad in my hand. I found myself frantically asking them as he was half in and out the door. He may be a great surgeon, but if I'm having surgery, I need to feel good about the person doing it; I did not at all. No care for my concerns.

Spent three years in pain, using a walker or wheelchair until Dr Perry fixed my broken femur. He seems all business but will answer your questions and is so very happy for the patient when she is better. I walk today because of Dr Perry.

Dr. Perry is a wonderful Doctor. He is patient and takes his time with his patients. His office staff is also very nice and helpful.

My mother currently lives in an assisted apartment complex in Melbourne, FL at the top of two flights of stairs. It has become glaringly apparent from two ruined, swollen knees that she can no longer manage this daily ascent. To move into a ground floor unit the management requires a written statement from her orthopedic doctor. When asked for said statement, after paying over $130 for an office visit, Dr. Perry replied dismissively that he only signs forms and would not fulfill this simple request. This office after repeated inquiries for something as trivial as a two-sentence statement had the temerity to charge an elderly woman with little income $25 for what equates to 2 minutes of work. John Perry you are not only a bad doctor, you are an honor less coward and a thief. Shame on your staff for blindly following such a repugnant toad.

Dr Perry's staff was like no other. They were there for us through the entire process. Well run group of caregivers.

Dr. Perry recently did my right total knee replacement. A knee replacement is NOT something a person wants to do, but after dealing for many years with a "bum" knee, I got over being scared and went to see Dr. Perry. He was honest (it will take a full year to heal completely), patient (answered all my questions) and IMO the best in Melbourne, FL at what he does. That being said, I think it's a 50/50 responsibility for this type of surgery. The doctor does the surgery, but the patient needs to do all the exercises (before and after), drop some weight (if necessary - don't fool yourself, it helps) and understand that after surgery it takes time (heavy duty ice packs from Chattanooga ColPac (the black one) helped tremendously with swelling). I am 4 months out of surgery and can walk (4 miles a day), ride my bike, shop without reaching for a grocery cart, and have my quality of life back. The first month of surgery is rough (to say the least), but you see a difference each day. If you are… debating whether or not to go through this type of surgery, I say "go for it." My thanks to Dr. Perry and his professional staff (Monica, Emily and all the others) for helping me through this. They have been there every step of the way. By the way --- I am now a "very young 64!"

Had an anterior approach total hip replacement done on my right hip. Working with Dr. Perry and all of his staff was a great experience. Responsive, caring, and readily available to help with any questions. If you are on the fence at all about having surgery done - do not hesitate!! Have it done and stop hurting! I put off having surgery done for close to a year. At 55 well-meaning people would say I was too young. Dr. Perry reviewed my x-rays with me (they take them right at the office), and even redid an xray for me when I finally had made my decision to re-confirm my thinking, and in a sense validated my decision even further! By putting off your surgery, you can end up hurting areas of your body that compensate for your affected area. Do it when it makes sense to you - but Dr. Perry and his staff really work with you to help you through the pain and get you on a road to recovery. due to a failed meniscus surgery 6 years ago, I was forced to get a total knee replacement. I interviewed four different orthopedic surgeons before settling on Dr. Perry. I chose him because he didnt sugar coat it when I asked him what the possible downside of the surgery might be. The surgery went perfectly-I walked comfortably that evening and walked perfectly three days later. He scheduled more follow ups than I thought he needed, but no charge or co-pay for them so all it took was time. I will inevitably need the other kneee replaced, and will not consider any other doctor. He is top notch!!!.

Dr. Perry has the right combination of humor and professionalism along with a great deal of experience. I have MS as well as my hip pain I had and, although Dr. Perry cautioned me about possible problems that could occur, the surgery went smoothly as did the rehab. I would definitely return to him if I needed the surgery he does.
