Dr. Mary Randall Parker

Unable to get in touch with anyone - calls always go to voicemail and aren’t returned even after multiple messages are left for weeks.

As indicated in other reviews, Dr. Parker has a nice demeanor but she often seems detached, disconnected and uninterested. She also seems to be in a rush when you speak to her. Never provides a complete assessment. Instead, she refers you to several other doctors. If you ask about the results of your bloodwork, the response is general, as is, any suggestions for a resolution. I have tried to get over these concerns and have kept going back. I cannot do that anymore. I deserve a doctor who actually cares and is not so dismissive.

Not as thorough as I am accustomed to. Often seems rushed and disconnected from the conversation. The receptionist is another story altogether. NEVER gets back to you unless you call multiple times and leave a "stronger" message. Not sure why she NEVER picks up the phone in the first place. Always need to leave a recording.

Unfortunately, and rather shockingly, Dr. Parker's receptionist is the reason I will not be going back to her for care. I had an appointment and, afterwards, had some concerns about billing (which has been entirely inconsistent between me and colleagues who go to Dr. Parker and have the SAME insurance plan and have all gone for the same annual physical/testing) and about lab test results (which were never given to me directly, but were communicated casually via a voicemail from Dr. Parker lacking any detail at all). I called multiple times a week for 3 months at various times throughout the day (starting at 9 am and going until 4 pm) and left voicemails myself, but never, ever got a response. I finally got a response after calling multiple times over two days, and the response was slow, extremely rude, and STILL I had to follow up to get results that were promised to me and not delivered via email after 24 hours. Dr. Parker herself is kind and attentive-- very easy to talk to-- but… trying to get any information on medical care from her receptionist is not worth the trouble.

Unfortunately I must agree with the several reviewers here who had unhappy experiences with Dr. Mary Parker at New York Physicians. Comments regarding office receptionist/staff reflect to me the supervisor (doctor) rather than the quality of the reception staff. The first review on this site sounded eerily like my experience with Dr. Parker. Everything was "no big deal" to Dr. Parker, despite severe quality of life complaints on my part. She is indeed to quote the review from 8/1/12 "unapologetic and uncaring." Reading her notes to specialists was surprising & disconcerting in the lack of understanding and insight she held and was able to convey on my behalf. Although she has a good, professional presence, her bedside manner and original thought are deeply lacking. The overall experience was more than unpleasant - it had the makings of a psychodrama. I think she presumes she is surrounded by hysterics and hypochondriacs. Not the right doctor for anyone with special or unusual needs.… Words to the wise.

Dr. Parker is very personable and professional. Spend time taking medical history and is very detailed and precise. Focuses on prevention. Follow up and referral is excellent. Has a referral lists of top doctors rating 5/5. Usually on time and prompt. Responds back with results promptly. Annual physical exams very complete and comprehensive. I would rate her as excelent.

I have seeing been Dr. Parker for a couple years now. She gets to know the patient both mind and body. She spends a good amount time talking with me before or after the actual exam. Explaining options both with medications/procedures and what I can control (diet, exercise, sleep, etc). She has recommended good specialists. And because she has gotten to know me well - she suggests questions and possible treatments that I should discuss with these specialists. I do have to say though her receptionist can do with an attitude adjustment -- I usually spend a minute or 2 of her ignoring me at the front desk. And very difficult to get a call back to schedule an appointment -- no one answers the phone. Always leave at least 2 messages before getting a call back.
