Dr. Paul Magtibay, MD

Dr. M is an outstanding Dr. who genuinely cares about his patients. He is a skilled surgeon who surrounds himself with a team of other talented Drs., nurses, and medical personnel. I appreciate that Dr. M and his staff acted with a sense of urgency when he accepted me as a patient. I am optimistic that my surgery and treatment will keep me on track for a full recovery. I live in a small town in Colorado. I was scared and getting delayed care here. I called Dr M office on a whim. I was scheduled and saw him via telemed. He let me know we needed further work up. I always felt in full control of my care but also knew I was 100% safe. Covid made things a tad scary but he made sure to let my husband into the pre op. My surgery was exactly like he explained except less pain then I had expected. I literally only took 4 pain pills with the exception of over the counter meds. I am SO THANKFUL TO DR MATIGBAY AND STAFF!

I went in for an operation at the Mayo Clinic and by mistake, Magtibay cut my intestines (but was not aware that he cut me). He closed me up from the original operation and sent me home. I became VERY ill at home and every time I called the hospital to tell them I was sick they told me, "of course you don't feel well, you just had surgery." This went on for 4 days. Finally, we just decided to go back to Mayo Emergency room to ensure that that took care of me. Turns out I was sepsis. Magtibay had to open me up again, sew up my intestines and close me again. Turns out the incision got infected and I had to be opened again. I was in the Mayo for 3 weeks due to his error. He NEVER came to check on me during his daily rounds for those three weeks. He has left me with a disgusting looking 10 inch scar, never apologized or had the decency to show his face again. I can't believe he is still a doctor.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Magtiby. My mother has been diagnosed as terminal twice at her local hospital. Her first visit to Dr. Magtiby was her last chance and she is still with us. Her second was the same - he believed in her chances again. He does not give up. Because of him, I can still call my mom every day. Not a day goes by that I'm not grateful.

I went to Mayo for a second opinion. I met with Dr. Magtibay and knew instantly that I was in good hands. He explained what was going to happen, it was going to be a difficult road but that I would ok. My surgery was scheduled and it was more difficult than expected but Dr. Magtibay took care of me. I then followed up with chemo. I am now one year out and feel fantastic. I know I made the right choice choosing Dr. Magtibay and the Mayo Clinic.

Recused to do Sudbury because of money and wrote letters to gyn/Inc see in scottsdale.

Dr. Magtibay performed my hysterectomy in 2010 for a very early stage endometrial cancer. I have had no issues with surgery itself and am glad I went with the Da Vinci method, however, a lot of issues with the lack of estrogen resulting from the surgery. I feel the effects and consequences of the surgery were not honestly discussed. I was told it would not affect my sex life which was simply not true.

Haven't had a f/u visit yet. Very patient, calm demeanor. Listened, answered my questions, appeared confident, not arrogant. Very nice person.

Dr Magtibay performed an elective removal of my ovaries and tubes to reduce my risk of ovarian cancer over 50%! He was prompt, extremely thorough, and very communicative about everything. I am post op 2 days now and have heard personally from him both days! I am thrilled with Dr. Magtibay and MAYO Clinic.

Dr. Magtibay was great from my initial consult to post-op. I had a uterine tumor removed which required a hospital stay. He explained everything when I first went in, told me the different options for surgery and what my best choice was. He showed me on my scan where exactly the tumor was and what he would do to remove it, along with the risks involved. The surgery itself went great. I woke up about 4 hours later, taken to my room, and he came up around dinner time to check in and go over everything. I had a very tiny amount of spotting which went away after 3 days; typically it's normal bleeding for up to 10 days after surgery. Minimal scarring as well. He clearly knows what he is doing and is humble about it. Even though he's published over 150 articles, he never seemed to let pride get in the way. A month after surgery, I went back in with pain that ended up being unrelated. He took me in as a same-day emergency appointment and stayed on board throughout all my tests. … He and his colleague, Dr. Nora Bassiouni, worked together to help me in that experience as well. Great doctors, both of them. Highly recommend.
