Dr. Rebecca Twietmeyer, known best as “Dr. Becky” by her patients, is proud to be a fifth generation Kansas native. Following a childhood in Salina, Mulvane, Boulder (Colorado) and Corvallis (Oregon), she and her family settled at home in Emporia where she graduated from Emporia High School. She then attended Kansas State University to complete her undergraduate degree in 1977, then attending The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry where she graduated in 1981. Following her graduation from UMKC she attended Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon completing a general practice dental residency in 1982. Following her residency in Oregon, Dr. Twietmeyer returned home to Emporia, whom she had the pleasure in working along side Dr. Richard Bennett until she settled and joined her practice in Cheney, Kansas in 1984. In April 2005, Dr. Twietmeyer …joined Dr. Lashley at Lashley Family Dentistry to add an additional location to provide care to her patients’. Today she continues to provide the most quality and compassionate care to all of her patient’s.
Dr. Twietmeyer is continually showing her compassion for caring by donating much of her time to many organizations. Though she has many accomplishments she considers her two children; Charley and Libby undeniably to be her greatest. They are the apple of her eye, and she of theirs. During her free time you will find Dr. Twietmeyer involved with The Sunrise Rotary Club, The Board of Trustees at Friends University, The WSU School of Dental Hygiene where she periodically serves as a clinical instructor, as well as involvement with her church membership at Ascension Lutheran. And if course her love for her beloved Wildcats!
Dr. Twietmeyer has had the opportunity to directly impact and provide dental care and education to not only her patients, but those who frequently do not have the opportunity to receive dental care that others are readily able to receive. In 2005 she was able to travel with Medical Teams International to provide dental care to children in a Cambodia orphanage. Locally she had contributed to dental education to children buy visiting area schools; providing dental education as well as dental screenings. She also volunteers her time, skills and expertise to The Sedgwick County Health Department, Children’s Clinic on a regular basis and The Kansas Mission of Mercy (KMOM). She additionally has helped to introduce the optimal fluoridation of the Cheney Municipal Water Supply. Dr. Twietmeyer continues to extend her education by completing numerous hours of continued education each year. She continues hold affiliations with The Wichita District Dental Society, Kansas Dental Society, The American Dental Society and The Omirron Kappa Upsilon-Honorary Dental Society.
