This person began counseling us after talking with our disturbed adopted daughter and accepting her claim that my husband was mentally incompetent and I was an unfit caregiver. These claims are completely false and were eventually proved to be false through investigation by the police and Adult Protective Services, and through an extensive evaluation of my husband by a neuropsychologist. We had to do all that because Karen wrote a long list of lies about us to the police and courts. Her goal was to break up our marriage at the behest of our adopted daughter who wanted to gain custody of my husband and his savings. It cost us over $50,000 to get out from under the damage this woman did to us. Whatever your needs are, this is NOT the therapist for you.

This woman is not a responsible psychologist. She came into her counseling with us, recommended by our mentally disturbed adopted daughter. with the goal of breaking up our marriage and giving the daughter custody of my husband and control of his savings, which are substantial. Her intent from the beginning was to turn us against each other, shown by her telling my husband outside my hearing that she would "get him out of here." He told her he didn't want to "get out of here," he wanted to solve the problems, but she continued trying to break us up. She lied to each of us about the other's intentions, claiming to each that the other one wanted to end the marriage. She encouraged my husband to take more of his medication than prescribed and then encouraged me to leave town for a trip with friends. Then she forced my husband into a treatment center where she is on staff, by threatening that if he didn't go voluntarily she would commit him. She communicated with our daughter… without our permission, and brought the daughter to the treatment center to try to force my husband to sign power of attorney to the daughter, which would give her control of my husband's funds. Then Dr. Underwood lied to the police, giving a number a fabricated and exaggerated reports claiming I was an unfit caregiver for my husband in another attempt to break us up. The result was an extensive police investigation which found no lack of appropriate care, and an investigation by Adult Protective Services which also found no wrongdoing. It took us two months to get out of the horrible actions she took against us. This woman used her position and license as a psychologist in an attempt to gain financial profit for her friend and probably for herself. She cannot be trusted to act in a responsible way and should be expected to act for her own self-interest and not that of her client. Stay away from her!
