Dr. Andrew Scott Gorman

I would like to share our experience in hopes that another family doesn't have to experience the frustration and disappointment that we had to. Firstly, let me say this has nothing to do with Dr. Gorman- we actually never got to see him. This is strictly a review of the process of making an appointment and the interactions with his staff, specifically Wendy- the office manager. My elderly mother was referred to Dr. Gorman by her primary care physician. The PCP office placed the referral to Dr. Gorman's office directly in addition to attempting to make a referral through my mother's insurance carriers portal, although they were unable as my mother has a PPO plan which will not allow a provider to enter in authorization information, since an authorization is not required under her PPO plan. Dr. Gorman's office schedules an appointment for my mother. We thought we were done. A few days before the scheduled appointment, the office reaches out to my elderly mother saying that she cannot… come in as SHE doesn't have the proper referral in place. My elderly mother is completely confused by this and doesn't know what her role is or what she can do. My aunt reaches out to the office on behalf of my mother to find out what we can or need to do. Dr. Gorman's office explains that a referral from the PCP is needed before the appointment. My aunt reaches out to my mother's PCP and they explain that a referral was already placed, but they will send a second referral over. The following day, we hear the same story from Dr. Gorman's office- they are missing a referral from her primary care physician. My sister calls this time to see what information she can gather. The message is always the same- Dr. Gorman's office saying we need a referral. The primary care office telling us they sent over multiple referrals and they also called to follow-up with Dr. Gorman's office multiple times. The insurance tells us that Dr. Gorman's office is mistaken- no referral in needed and in fact, the primary can send over a referral but will not be able to place a referral via the electronic insurance portal since my mom has a PPO. The appointment day comes and goes and Dr. Gorman's office refuses to see my mother. No apology, no direction, no assistance- telling the patient that she cannot come in! The following week, I call Dr. Gorman's office on behalf of my mother and speak to the office manager, Wendy. She explained that the PCP referrals that they received from the PCP do not meet the requirement needed to approve my mother for an appointment. That the PCP needs to go through the insurance portal and place the referral that way. The PCP has already attempted the alternate referral via the portal but is blocked since no referral is needed with her PPO plan. No apologies, no interventions on her end to help navigate this- just very rude matter of fact words. I called the insurance company on the provider services line and explained the situation. The insurance manager couldn't believe that the family was involved at this level and assured me that no referral was needed as my mother has a PPO plan. He was going to follow up with AZ Neurology Associates to make sure Wendy, the office manager understood the process. To this day- almost 3 weeks from her originally scheduled appointment, we have heard nothing back from Dr. Gorman's office. I am so turned off from the multiple condescending conversations with Wendy, the lack of assistance and cooperation, and complete disregard for patient care- we will not be sending my mom to this office. I am certain that is not the way to run a medical practice.

My Mother had 6 test done there over several months and we were told her final appt. would be with Dr. Gorman who would go over ALL the test results with her. We waited months for this appt. I was expecting a Dr to come in prepared, professional and polite but we got the exact opposite. He didn't have test results and when the assistant found the MRI, she printed it off for him and he flew by the seat of his pants basically saying everything looked good....when I tried to ask about the other test, he either interrupted me or told me I wasn't paying attention. Bottom line, he didn't want to have to account for his unprepared ignorance and became very rude and hostile and didn't let me talk at all. I've never experienced a Dr. to be so outrageously rude, arrogant and inept! I'll never allow my Mother to go back there, especially to HIM!

After telling him my migraines are worse then they've ever been and I'm struggling to sleep he told me to double the migraine medication prescribed and stop taking my sleeping pills. I called back and told them that made me very groggy. So he said to take the second dose of the migraine medication in the morning. So basically I still can't sleep and he wants me to take a medication with warnings of drowsiness after I've had no sleep but need to get in a car and coherently function at my job. I told my primary about it and she suggested something different that also treated another one of my other conditions. Dr. Gorman didn't want the input from my primary so he denied the medication change but didn't tell his assistant why. Endo suggested the same medication but I didn't even bother to tell Dr. Gorman. I didn't want to bruise his ego that two other physicians disagreed with him. So instead I'm just taking another medication for the other condition. He wanted me to have a sleep study… which I did but never got the results. Then I got a random call from an allergist who said that Dr. Gorman wanted me to come see them but after a confusing conversation they stated they needed a referral from the correct primary as Dr. Gorman's sent it through my old one and not the new one I wrote in my paperwork. I traded phone calls with Dr. Gordan's referral coordinator who pronounced my name wrong, called me Mr. when it's clear by my name and outgoing voicemail greeting I'm a Ms. and claimed they did not refer me to an allergist. I was very clear with the allergist of who referred me as I was not expecting a call from an allergist but after the conversation thought it had something to do with my sleep study. I guess there's an allergist out there with Dr. Gorman's patient list randomly calling people to drum up business using his name. Or more likely someone made a mistake but won't admit to it. I reminded the referral coordinator of who my primary actual is and she confirmed that she sent my physical therapy referral to the wrong primary. That was a month ago which was 3 weeks after my first appointment where all of this was talked about. I also told them I still didn't have my sleep study results and she assured me she'd leave a message for the doctor. A month later I talked to my primary and they stated no referral paperwork had come through. I called again to Dr. Gorman's office and told them again I hadn't heard about my sleep study and again asked for the referral paperwork to be sent to the correct primary. The receptionist confirmed that the primary given to the referral coordinator a month before was still not inputted into their system. Why exactly do we fill out paperwork if they ignore the part of it that has the your primary doctor's name? The very next day I finally got a call from the physical therapist and a call from Dr. Gorman's office stating I needed to make an appointment to go over the sleep study. I made an appointment for about 2 weeks later. Today I got four voice messages to confirm my Monday appointment which is 3 days before I have it on my calendar and a day where I'm not even in town. My calendar was open when I inputted this appointment so there is no way I would have made an appointment for a day that my calendar has shown me out of town and that schedule has been fixed for over a month. The person confirming the appointment slaughtered my name so badly I thought she called the wrong person. My name is uncommon but it's pronounced phonetically based on how it's spelled. It's often miss-pronounced but no where near to the extreme that I just heard. Did this entire practice miss the lessons on customer service and to make sure you get people's names right? Oh wait based on the majority of the reviews out there - I'm thinking they just don't care in the least. Perhaps my primary and endo who are both from extremely well run offices could give them a lesson on how to run a practice that results in well cared for and satisfied patient's. Above all do no harm!! Yeah right. My headaches are worse, the number of prescriptions I'm taking is higher, and I still can't sleep - 2 months later. Thanks for wasting my time.

I have seen Dr Gorman for several years, and was at one point very satisfied with him, today for the 2nd time days before my appt I was called by snarky appt desk advising me he was referring me to the Nurse practitioner, I made this morning appt 6 months ago, so it fit with my schedule, now you want to give me an afternoon appt causing me to miss work. Several times I have had to make phone after phone call to get my medication refilled because they are unresponsive to the pharmacy. I realize that are cases that may be more pressing than mine, however the front desk snark at ANA, and the time that I spent waiting in the lobby vs time with the doctor I am just done... keep searching there was point when I sent several patients to Dr. Gorman they like myself are all jumping ship after being passed on or made to felt like we don't matter as much

It was a most unpleasant experience! I am thinking of canceling the tests he scheduled finding another Neurologist.

Impossible to discuss follow up questions with him. Had P.A. discuss test results then referred to P. A.’s assistant that did not call back.

Yesterday was my 1st appointment with Dr. Gorman. I arrived to his office 15 minutes early to fill out any paperwork. And then I waited & waited. After an hour, I asked how long it was going to be and was told that they were waiting for a room. 15 minutes went by & I told the receptionist that I had another appointment & needed a real assessment of time. She wouldn't tell me& I ended up walking out. When I tried to reschedule, I was told that I should find another office / doctor.

Dr. Gorman is great. I previously saw him when he was with another practice and when he began to practice with Arizona Neurology Associates I was able to get in right away with no issues. He was able to answer all the questions I needed to assist with my diagnosis.

I like Dr G OK but since he went with the Core the practice has gotten worse. He is sympathetic to my issue but he likes to just give me pills & send me on my way. It's clear he has no time. I wait over an hour every time. But his staff is awful! I can't say enough bad things about them. Every few months he had a new assistant. It takes months to get an appt, and one time they closed for a meeting and did not tell me! I showed up for my appt, and the office was closed! I called and the lady just laughed it off and was like oh yeah, we forgot you. Are you kidding?! So another several months until another appt! This is unacceptable! They don't care. It will be 6 months between appts & I can't do this! I have to go elsewhere but you know what, it's probably best I just find someone else anyway.

I was not impressed with dr. Gorman. he seemed preoccupied. none of my tests had been sent to his office so he could be informed about my issues ahead of my appointment. the wait time was ridiculously long, almost an hour. trying to schedule my EEG was very difficult and I live in Prescott so I made my appointment in Prescott for the EEG. there was no follow up after my EEG even though I contacted the office to make f/u appointments several times.
